On June 11th, the Ford to Tappen project team gathered for a well-deserved BBQ to celebrate the near-completion of one of EAC's most significant recent projects.

The 4.3 kilometre Highway 1 four-laning project will improve safety, capacity, and the movement of goods and services along one of BC's most travelled corridors, with wider shoulders, a new frontage road system, and the replacement of the Tappen Overhead Bridge. Starting in September 2023 and wrapping up in July 2026, the team is delivering months ahead of schedule.

Delivering a project of this scale takes an incredible number of people. Over 200,000 person hours of work went into this project, and it shows. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed:

Another year in the books. And we couldn't be more proud.

Year two of School District 23's Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) Dual-Credit Program is officially complete, and what a class it was. Over 10 weeks, these Grade 12 students earned high school credits while gaining real, hands-on experience operating heavy equipment at EAC's gravel pit. The program blends classroom learning with field training, and it's designed to do one thing: open doors.

This is more than an educational initiative. It's a direct pathway to careers in construction. Programs like this are critical in addressing the skilled labour shortage while giving students a clear path into high-demand trades. Watching that vision come to life for a second consecutive year is something our whole team is proud of.

This year, we launched the EAC Women in Civil Construction Bursary. A program designed to provide financial support and real work experience to female students pursuing a career in civil engineering or a related field. Recipients receive a financial award to support tuition and educational expenses, along with a paid co-op work term with our team.

For our inaugural recipient, we could not be more proud to name Clea McLean.

Clea is a second-year Civil Engineering student at the University of Northern British Columbia. She came to us with a clear sense of purpose, a strong academic record, and a genuine connection to the values we hold at EAC. Community, commitment, and a drive to build something meaningful.

Clea joins us this summer for her co-op term and we are so proud to have her join the EAC team. Congratulations and welcome, Clea!

A major milestone for our Jumping Creek team.

On May 28th, the EAC team wrapped up all production blasting on the Highway 1 Jumping Creek to MacDonald Snowshed Project near Revelstoke, BC, three full weeks ahead of schedule.

This design-build project for the Ministry of Transportation and Transit will enhance 2.6 km of Highway 1, improving safety, efficiency, and climate resiliency for travellers along one of BC's most critical corridors. Delivering ahead of schedule speaks to the dedication, skill, and focus this team brings to the job every single day.

Kelowna's new K.L.O. Road Bridge is now open to traffic!

This isn't just a new bridge. It's a safer, higher, and wider crossing over Mission Creek, built for the drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians who use it every day.

On May 8, we were proud to join the City of Kelowna for the official opening celebration, alongside representatives from the Province of British Columbia and the Government of Canada. Seeing all three levels of government come together to fund and champion infrastructure like this is a powerful reminder of what's possible when communities and their partners are aligned.

Emil Anderson Construction was honoured to deliver this project, and we're grateful to everyone who made it happen: our crew in the field, our partners at the City, and the broader community that called for a better connection across Mission Creek.

While the bridge is open, work continues on Spiers Rd, paths, landscaping, and Mission Greenway access.

The Annual EAC Grand Slam Get-Together brought our crew together for a day of softball, friendly competition, and good company. Days like this are a reflection of the culture we've built and continue to invest in. When our people connect, collaborate, and show up for each other outside of the jobsite, every one of our core values comes to life. That's worth celebrating! EAC marks 40 years since completing its work on the Coquihalla Highway, a defining milestone in our history. In 1984–85 we built 24.2 km of grading and paved 28.07 km between Murray Bridge and Glenwalker, and engineered critical avalanche protection in Boston Bar Creek valley, including dams, containment basins, diversion trenches, benches, and the Great Bear Snowshed.

The project was under the leadership of Bob Hasell, and now his son Robert Hasell serves as President and CEO of Emil Anderson Group. Forty years later, the project still stands as a testament to innovation, grit, and engineering excellence, and endures as a cornerstone of British Columbia’s infrastructure.
