Hey! It's a Yard Farm!

This family is ready to do some serious backyard gardening with the addition of 8 new raised planters in various configurations. They'll be growing a lot of their own food for years to come.

These are some of our favorite projects to do. We love helping people get set up to grow food. We take care of the grunt work so that our customers can get right to work nurturing their plants.

It's been a rainy week but we did manage to get some sod down at this newer home. It started out pretty rough and filled with weeds. We pulled all the weeds manually and added some topsoil to improve the grading. The sod went down nicely, and it really transformed the look and feel of the yard.

Flagstone Friday! This customer had their basement waterproofed a few years ago, which resulted in a large excavation around the perimeter of the house. The soil from that excavation has since settled, and the flagstone walkway to their front entrance became a serious trip hazard.

We were removed about 4-6 inches of the backfill, put in a solid base of A-gravel and re-levelled the walkway. We repeated that process in a few spots in the path that sunk or heaved over the years. The customer is going to finish up by the job by cleaning out the remaining joints and adding new polymeric sand to the entire path.

While it's not the most challenging task, flagstone can be tedious and frustrating to level.

This customer had a fair sized garden in their side yard that they were interested in removing and re-seeding. It was a tougher job than it would've seemed. It was well established, with lots of Ivy and some deep-rooted perennials.

I opted to leave the backhoe at home and tackle this job by hand, which was probably not the right move , but did keep costs down - which was a priority for the customer. I was able to use a come-along and some chains to get this woody shrub out and into the trailer. It has been replanted at Yard Farms HQ, along with some other smaller (more manageable) perennials that the customers no longer wanted.

We cleaned up a ton of debris, and ripped out as much Ivy as we possibly could. We matched the grades of the existing lawn with the topsoil we had available and seeded the area heavily before it rained. We shaped a much smaller bed along the side of the house, and called it a day.

Overall a budget-friendly way to get a new look in this side yard!

Yesterday we removed about 100' of cedar rail fence from a rural property to clean up the appearance of the property line from the road. The owner opted to remove (rather than repair) this fence, but we have held on to the material to re-install on a future landscaping project. The character of this old cedar rail is priceless.

We also broke out the backhoe for the first time this season to remove some piles of trees and dirt left by the builder and tidy up the yard.

We are going to try and make a habit of posting more of our work on social media in 2026.

Here is a small job, upgrading the entranceway of this newer home from gravel to large pavers from start to finish (with a bonus drainage tie-in).

We're still taking on jobs for Spring and Summer 2026. Send us a message, call us at (343) 364-8841, or visit www.yardfarms.ca to book a free consultation.
