Well… we’re glad at least one of us made a good impression. 😂

In our defence, working in construction means having all kinds of conversations.

One day, we’re talking about exciting design decisions and seeing a renovation come together. The next, we’re explaining why opening up a wall revealed an issue that needs attention before work can continue.

And those conversations are just as important.

When unexpected conditions show up during a renovation, homeowners deserve to understand what was found, what needs to happen next, and how it could affect the scope, budget or timeline.

That means honest updates, explaining the options, answering questions, and making sure everyone understands the decisions being made along the way.

At Paradise, we take that responsibility seriously. We know how much trust goes into hiring someone to work on your home, and clear communication is a big part of earning it.

When you’re more of a “let’s enjoy our pool all year round” kind of family. 😎

This project has been a labour of love, and we (and our clients!) couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

We built this custom home extension to create the ultimate year-round hangout spot, complete with an expansive inground swimming pool, hot tub, kitchenette, and plenty of room to relax, entertain, and make memories.

Basically, every kid’s paradise. And let’s be real, probably every adult’s too. 😂

With soaring ceilings, oversized windows that bring in tons of natural light, and beautiful views of the outdoors, we wanted this space to feel open, bright, and connected to the surrounding property. All the perks of an outdoor pool, without having to worry about the weather!

From the initial planning to the final details, there was a lot that went into bringing this one to life. And seeing the finished space, knowing how many family gatherings, pool parties, and everyday memories will happen here, makes all that hard work worth it.

Safe to say, this family won’t be counting down the days until pool season anymore. 😉

How to instantly elevate any space? Add an arch and some lighting. 👏

Sometimes, it’s the simplest architectural details that make the biggest impact.

An arch can completely transform an ordinary opening into a standout feature, adding character, dimension, and a custom feel to a space. Pair it with thoughtfully placed lighting, and you’ve got a feature that looks just as good in the evening as it does during the day.

But here’s the thing: achieving that clean, seamless finish takes more than just a good idea. From framing the perfect curve to ensuring the lighting is properly integrated, it’s the craftsmanship behind the walls that makes the finished result look effortless.

It’s these kinds of details that take a renovation from standard to something special.

Apparently, years of experience look a little different when you turn them into people. 😂

A few weeks, a couple of years, 14 years… everyone on the Paradise team brings a different amount of time in the industry, but that mix is exactly what makes the crew work.

Some of us have spent years solving problems on job sites. Others are newer, learning fast and bringing fresh energy into the mix. What matters is that the knowledge gets shared, the work gets checked, and everyone is working toward the same result.

Construction experience shows up in a lot of ways - knowing what to look for, catching issues early, understanding sequencing, coordinating trades, and knowing when something on site needs a second look.

And when you put all of that experience together… we’ve got quite a few years around here. 😎

One team, a lot of experience, and thankfully no actual toddlers on site. 😂

Part 3 of Our Main Floor Renovation: The Primary Bathroom! 🛁

You might look at the before photos and think, “Wait a minute… this bathroom was already beautiful. Why change it?”

And you’re not wrong! But here’s the thing about renovations: just because a space looks good doesn’t mean it’s functioning the way you need it to.

Sometimes, a renovation isn’t about fixing something that’s outdated. It’s about making better use of the space, improving the layout, and creating something that works for the homeowners and how they live.

For this primary bathroom, we made some pretty significant changes!

🔨 A walk-in double shower that offers more space, functionality, and a completely different feel.

🔨 A freestanding soaker tub with a full-length built-in wall niche, adding practical storage without compromising the clean finish.

🔨 Floor-to-ceiling microcement, creating a seamless, modern look with minimal grout lines.

🔨 A separate toilet room for added privacy and functionality.

🔨 Transom windows connecting the primary bedroom and bathroom, allowing natural light to flow between the two spaces while maintaining privacy.

While the original bathroom was beautiful, the new layout completely changes how the space functions.

And that’s one of the things we love most about renovations. It’s not always about starting with something bad and making it better. Sometimes, it’s about taking something good and making it work even harder for the people who use it.

From reconfiguring layouts to bringing new ideas to life, there’s a lot more that goes into a renovation than what you see in the finished photos.

A little preview of what’s coming next. 👀

We’re into the kitchen phase on a new project, and tile is officially going in.

This is the stage where all of the earlier planning starts becoming visible - layout, spacing, cuts, transitions, and how the finish works with the rest of the room.

There’s still more to come, but we’ll give you this much for now. 😎

A closet fit for a Queen! 👑✨

Closets are often one of the most underrated spaces in a home, but we think they deserve a little more attention. After all, it’s where you start and end your day, and there’s something to be said for having a beautifully organized space that makes getting dressed feel less like a daily scavenger hunt and more like a little moment of luxury.

For this project, we took an underutilized spare bedroom and transformed it into a boutique-inspired walk-in closet that feels like your very own private dressing room.

We incorporated elegant archways to soften the space and add architectural interest, creating a more custom, elevated feel. And because good lighting changes everything (especially when you’re trying to decide if those two shades of black actually match 😂), we replaced a small window with a large patio door to flood the room with natural light.

The result? A space that’s as beautiful as it is functional, with a little everyday luxury built right in.

Because who says your favourite room in the house can’t be your closet?

Beginning of the day: fully charged.
End of the day: somebody please carry us to the truck. 😂

It’s a busy stretch around here, and the days have definitely been full.

But having a lot on the schedule never means rushing through the work. We still take the time to prep properly, check what we’re doing, and leave each project at the standard we expect from ourselves.

And with winter getting closer, roofing is one of those jobs homeowners tend to think about a little more.

Paradise works with both asphalt and steel roofing, whether it’s part of a larger renovation or an exterior project. A roof has a big job through an Ontario winter, so proper installation, flashing, ventilation, water management, and the condition of the existing roof all deserve attention.

If your roof has been giving you reasons to think about it lately, before the snow arrives is a pretty good time to have that conversation.

The way some girls can’t function without Starbucks… we honestly can’t function without our tools. 😂

And around here, they get put to work on a lot more than the pretty parts of a renovation.

Renovations and additions often involve working with an existing structure that was built years - sometimes decades - before the new plans existed. Once walls are opened or an addition starts tying into the house, that’s when the real conditions become clear.

Old framing may need reinforcement. Openings can require structural changes. Previous work may need to be corrected. And where new construction meets the existing home, the building envelope has to be carefully tied together so air, water and insulation layers stay continuous.

Those transitions are especially important. A beautiful addition can still create problems later if flashing, waterproofing, insulation or structural connections aren’t properly worked into the existing house.

That’s why our renovation work can include additions, structural repairs and envelope fixes alongside the visible upgrades.

So yes… the tools are coming with us everywhere. 😂
