We got a call for a pretty bad pinhole leak in an apartment building we service. We managed to seal it temporarily with a Kibosh repair clamp and schedule a proper fix.

This seemed like the perfect time to test our new Cold Shot pipe freeze kit.
Attempt 1: total fail. Turns out our CO₂ tank doesn’t have a dip tube, so we flipped it upside down to try pulling liquid CO₂.

Attempt 2: no luck. The existing globe valves weren’t sealing properly, and we had too much flow through the pipe to get a solid frost plug.

Attempt 3: we called it. Frost plug abandoned. We dropped the flow as best we could and went for it live. Fast hands, a few Viega ball valves, and some spilled water later, the system was sealed and back in action.

Not every day goes smooth, but the job always gets done.
