POV: The power goes out.

You have approximately 10 seconds to panic…

Then the generator kicks in and you can go back to pretending nothing happened.

Backup power doing exactly what it’s supposed to do.

Power goes out. What are you keeping on first?

Jeff gives his quick ranking of the top 5 priorities during a power outage and yes, some things definitely rank higher than others.

Every home is different, but knowing what you actually need to keep powered is an important part of choosing the right generator setup.

What makes your top 5?

Sometimes the fix isn’t sitting on a shelf.

Recently, while on site at a remote cell tower in Quesnel, we found a cracked fuel return line banjo bolt that broke under very little pressure.

The challenge? The manufacturer no longer supports this specific part.

With a little ingenuity, we built a new fitting, completed the repair and got the unit back online.

Remote sites don’t always come with easy solutions. That’s where experience matters.

When you need to film content, but the workday isn’t slowing down… you improvise.

Today’s filming location: the telehandler. 😂

Around here, if there’s a few minutes to talk generators, we’ll take them.

We’re a Kohler dealer. But what does that actually mean for you?

It means we don’t just sell the equipment. We’re trained and equipped to support it throughout its life.

As a Kohler dealer, our team can help with:

• Choosing and correctly sizing the right generator
• Installation support and commissioning
• Warranty registration and warranty work
• Factory-trained service and diagnostics
• Genuine Kohler parts
• Firmware updates and technical support
• Preventative maintenance and load testing
• Troubleshooting when something isn’t working as it should

A generator is a long-term investment. Who you buy it from matters because eventually, you’re going to need someone who knows the equipment and can support it.

Buying the generator is step one. Having the right team behind it is what keeps it ready for the outage.

Jacob is out on Hornby Island today commissioning a new 26RCA Kohler generator.

A pretty great place for a service call, but the work is just as important.

Commissioning is the final step in making sure a new generator is properly set up, tested and ready to do its job when the power goes out.

From the Lower Mainland to the Islands and beyond, our team goes where the generators are.

POV: Your generator has issues, but you called Miller-Tech.

Cue the unnecessarily dramatic entrance music.

10 minutes later: 😎

Just a little generator humour for your Tuesday.

Buying a generator is only one part of the equation.

Before you choose a unit, there are a few important questions to ask:

Who is going to install it?
Who will maintain it?
And when the power goes out and something isn’t working, who are you going to call?

A generator is a long-term investment, and the support behind it matters just as much as the equipment itself.

From proper installation and commissioning to ongoing maintenance and emergency support, make sure you know who will be there throughout the life of your generator.

Because backup power is only valuable if it works when you need it.

Power outages in B.C. aren’t just an occasional inconvenience anymore.

In 2024, more than 1.4 million BC Hydro customers experienced weather-related power outages, the highest number on record. Severe storms, drought-weakened trees and changing weather patterns are putting more pressure on the electrical system.

And when the power goes out, the question isn’t always if it will come back on soon. It’s how prepared are you if it doesn’t?

A standby generator keeps the essentials running automatically, whether you’re home or away. Heat. Refrigeration. Pumps. Medical equipment. Internet. The systems your home or business depends on.

You can’t control the next outage. You can control how much it affects you.

Expect the unexpected. Be ready for it.

One power outage can erase a significant amount of profit, and most businesses don’t realize how vulnerable they are until it happens.

The restaurant is full.
The clinic is booked.
The machinery is running mid-production.

Then the power goes out.

Downtime isn’t just inconvenient for a business. It can mean lost revenue, spoiled inventory, interrupted operations, unhappy customers and hours spent trying to recover.

A properly sized and maintained standby generator isn’t just backup power. It’s part of your business continuity plan.

Because when the grid stops, your business doesn’t have to.
