Genesis Motion Solutions We design, manufacture, and sell framed and frameless direct drive motors. The result is robots that are complex, heavy and expensive.

In the past decade, robotic technology has made great progress in the areas of computer controls and electronic sensors. But the actuators – the parts that make robots move – are still using electric motor designs that haven’t changed much in a half-century. The Genesis team made three fundamental discoveries that made LiveDrive possible: amplifying the magnetic forces, a new structure that can withstand extreme forces, and thermodynamic innovations that enable much higher powers. Genesis’ LiveDrive is a breakthrough – a direct-drive actuator with torque-to-weight that can meet or beat the best motor-gearbox actuators. The LiveDrive provides dramatically higher speed and phenomenally greater stopping torque – which means robots can be much safer. LiveDrive is also elegantly simple. Competitive actuators have dozens of moving parts – LiveDrive has only one. And LiveDrive is designed to be mass produced by robots at a fraction of the cost of present day actuators. The LDD direct drive housed rotary motors use patented electromagnetic technology to generate more torque to mass than competing direct drive motors. In addition, they provide the performance to replace servo gear motors.

Compact but powerful direct drive motors:
- Mass ranging from 7.4 to 14.5 kilograms.
- Continuous torque ranging from 20.5 to 64.9 Newton meters.
- Up to 45% more torque density than the closest direct drive motors.
- Excellent power efficiency: outputs more torque for the same amount of heat generated. Up to 68%.

There are also numerous benefits to replacing servo gear motors with a direct drive motor:
- Decreased downtime
- Increased productivity
- Product safety

A key benefit to replacing a geared motor is that the Genesis LDD has fewer parts to source and maintain – no more gears, couplings, and lubrication. You can end the geared motor challenges of backlash and oil contamination. Achieve accuracy down to 1 arcminute, with high repeatability, and no expensive maintenance or oil leaks.

The LDD motor length ranges from 106 to 182 millimeters, which can reduce an overall system footprint by up to 2 times when compared to a similarly performing gearbox system. With an IP67 enclosure, our motors are protected from moisture and dust, allowing fast and easy light washdown of your machine.
