Job description
We are currently looking for a labourer to join our team. Must have a valid driver's license, MUST have a clean drivers abstract, know how to drive standard and have a smart phone that is always working.

Work can be physically demanding at times and hot.

Previous experience in landscaping or carpentry an asset but not mandatory.

Landscape Labourer

Cleaning and preparing construction sites
Loading and unloading materials and equipment
Wheel borrowing materials around job site
Digging trenches, compacting earth and back filling holes
Level rock and soil
Operating and tending machinery and heavy equipment
Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans
Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties
Material Installation
Lifting heavy materials all day

Skills/ Experience

Carpentry skills/experience an asset but not necessary
Ability to use and teach power tools, levels, saws, etc.
Willing and able to complete landscaping work
Ensure appropriate quantities of the correct materials are onsite prior to commencing daily work
Skid Steer experience major asset
Work Conditions

Exposure to hazards associated with the industry/trade
Extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions
Regular exposure to conditions including heat, humidity, and dust
Use of required personal protective equipment
Flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Salary: $17.00-$19.00 depending on experience

Let’s chat about mowing! This is of course an important part to making your grass look and feel amazing!
Firstly lets make sure your blades are sharp, you can damage the grass with dull mowing blades. Once you have cut your lawn you will notice the tips of the grass turn brown shortly after, that’s an indicator your blades need some sharpening.

Try not to remove more than 1/3 of the grass blade when mowing. By leaving your lawn taller, you can cut down on the chances of weeds getting a foothold, it will also help with shading the soil and roots from drying out faster.

If your grass has grown longer with heavier rains or maybe you’ve been away on holidays double cut your grass.
Do you first cut at a higher setting, then a couple days later cut it again to bring it to the appropriate 1/3 level.
Always mow when your grass is dry. Wet grass will clump up and could clog your mower.
