A Simple "No Cooling" Call Turns Into a Full Rooftop Rescue
​It is August here in London, Ontario, and a customer called us because their ductless heat pump suddenly stopped cooling. When we got up on the roof to diagnose the system, we found much more than just an AC issue—we found a complete installation disaster from the original contractor.
​The immediate issue? A major refrigerant leak caused by terribly made copper flares. All the system's refrigerant had leaked out.
​But as we looked closer, the entire setup was wrong:
​No Snow Stand: The unit was installed completely flat on the roof. We had to explain to the customer that once winter hits, a unit sitting flat like this will get buried in snow and completely fail to provide heat.
​Dangerous Wiring: The electrical connections inside the unit were messy, loose, and totally unsafe.
​We explained the right way to install a heat pump, and the customer asked us to do whatever it took to fix it properly.
​At Hawana HVAC Solutions, we don’t do patch jobs on bad work. We removed the entire system and started fresh. We mounted the condenser on a heavy-duty snow stand to protect it for the coming winter, completely rewired the electrical safely, and cut out the bad copper flares. We made brand new, perfect flare connections, pressure-tested the entire system with high-pressure nitrogen to guarantee there were zero leaks, pulled a deep vacuum, and recharged the unit to factory specifications.

​We hear these stories far too often here in London, Ontario. A local homeowner called us for a second opinion after another HVAC company quoted them an astronomical price to completely replace their older R22 air conditioner and fix a "broken" furnace blower.
