S.E.M. Construction has successfully completed an extensive $15,000,000 renovation of the Chemotherapy and Pharmacy Departments at Stratford General Hospital. The project encompassed the transformation of approximately 18,000 square feet of operational hospital space across multiple floors. This significant upgrade enhances the historic facility’s capabilities, enabling it to better support and treat patients during their most vulnerable moments.

The 3rd floor renovations included upgrades to Architecture, Electrical, and HVAC systems to create office spaces for staff. Architectural changes added new ceilings, vinyl flooring, windows, and paint. Electrical upgrades included new wiring, panels, and light fixtures. HVAC improvements provided heating and cooling with new radiators, thermostats, and ductwork. On the 4th floor, new wall assemblies and Electrical and HVAC systems were added in the 300 and 400 blocks of the West wing.

A new Pharmacy was built in the 300 block, featuring a secure narcotics room, compounding rooms, fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, HEPA filtered chambers, and office areas. Additionally, a Chemotherapy treatment space in the 400 block now has treatment rooms, a pressurized ANTE and Isolation room, nurse stations, and reception areas. In addition, all roofing within blocks 300 & 400 were replaced; and the overall HVAC system was upgraded with two new 10,000CFM air handling units.

We’re really excited to showcase our prefabricated pre-cast box shafts by on our Trillium Villa Long term care project in Sarnia. These shafts come to site prefabricated, coordinated and ready to land on our foundation walls. Installing the stairs as they go, creates stair shafts to be used during construction and the efficiency is unmatched! This project features 5 shafts between 3 and 4 storeys and will be installed in under 10 working days.

At S.E.M. Construction innovation is a driver, and was a huge part of schedule based cost savings for our client on this exciting project. Stay tuned for updates as the structural stud and Commslab deep deck begins! Shout out to .concrete on the impressive foundation schedule, and successful first slab pour!

Some to end the day!

S.E.M Construction, in partnership with Doug Tarry Homes served as the proud construction manager for the PowerCo offices in St. Thomas. This project will help house the PowerCo team as they get established ahead of the highly anticipated battery plant. The multi-phased project was handed over earlier this year.

This office space was a complete reimagining of a previously vacant area, now serving as a beacon for development in downtown St. Thomas. The renovation transformed 25,000 square feet of interior space, while also providing an exterior uplift. This included Graphenstone Canada painting of the brick, new siding, added windows for increased natural light, and new roofing throughout.

The modern interior features include sound baffles, modular office glazing, a 30-foot tall moss wall, and ergonomic office furniture - all designed to support the high-energy PowerCo team.

An exciting project for all involved, this marks an important start to what promises to be an exciting future for the city of St. Thomas.
