OUTDOOR VS INDOOR GROW - We are experimenting and doing a little comparison grow while staying within our 4 plant limit. Our goal was to keep everything the same, same seeds, same germination, same top times and same seedling plant times. In our last grow (see our videos) we did heavy LST and scrogging on our 4 plant supercrop, this time however we are just topping so the indoor plants and outdoor plants have been grown exactly the same, with the main difference being LED versus the sun. We topped both the indoor and outdoor grow 3 times for 8 main branches. We are using organic blood and bone meal outside, and Diablo nutrients inside so there is a nutrient difference in our grows as well. For our outdoor grow we dug a hole 4 feet x 8 feet x 3 feet deep, and mixed HP Pro mix and organic earth to fill the hole. Indoors we used the same soil mix as in our last grow, and you can see an entire video on our FB page on how we did that.

You may notice a small plant outdoors and wonder why? We had 4 seeds germinate but one seedling fizzled and died right away, so on our 1st topping we cloned the cutting and that's the small plant, mother and child side x side. With a 4 plant legal limit it does create some challenges.

We planted the seeds April 27th, separated the plants and planted outdoor and indoor June 2nd, and today is July 15th. Today the pics are at day 79, the indoor plants just went into 12/12 this week. The outdoor plants still have 4 months to go and are really just getting going. Since we didn't top the small clone we expect it may be even taller than the mother plant with so much growing time still left. The indoor grow will be harvested with the outdoor just starting to flower. We expect the outdoor plants to yield more but the indoor grow will be more potent with optimum growing conditions and strong full LED lighting. Btw the seeds are feminized GG #4 from Prism seeds. Plus we will do some defoliation on our indoor grow after some flower spurt.

So we are planning a new grow experiment. Due to our 4 plant legal restriction we will be growing 2 plants indoors in our 5x5 tent, and 2 plants outdoors in our backyard. Since we will be using the same seeds germinated at the same time, we will be able to not only compare yield and potency, but also the different challenges and growing processes between indoor and outdoor growing.

DriverKerr has many lights and options including 8, 10 and 12 bar systems ranging from 520 watts to 960 watts with and without UV/IR, and they have quantum boards as well. The Dimmable Inventronics driver with built in timer and remote control is standard on the bar lights.

THE 420 GROW QUEEN LIGHT as seen in our videos is 12 bars and 840 watts. It has Samsung LM301B 3000k/6500k diodes and best quality Osram reds. We also custom added UV/IR. Standard is the dimmable Inventronics driver with built in timer, UV/IR control, and hand held remote control. The light is 42 inches x 42 inches and was great at saturating the entire tent area with light.
We recommend for robust flowering the 520/640 8 bar light for a 4x4, the 680/800 10 bar light for a 5x5, and the 840/960 12 bar light for a 6x6 or commercial grow room. We found the 12 bar was way more power than we could use for our 5x5. In a straight veg tent just go one size smaller. Our last grow yielded 2 pounds of dry bud from 4 plants in our 5x5 tent, and the buds were very firm and tight as seen in our videos.

HARVEST YEILD....so we finally see the fruits of our labour and about 2 pounds of dried bud. We had a 5x5 tent and had our led light set at about 600 watts for the entire grow. So total yield is 893 grams, about 36 grams per sq ft, and about 1.35 grams per watt. We are hoping for more on our next indoor grow now knowing better how to manage our light and other good things we learned. Happy Growing!

Harvest day! Started with 8inch clones and then 38 days in veg and 68 days in flower until harvest! 106 days from clones to harvest!

With the Queen away I finished up 10 hours of trimming our harvest from 4 plants in our 5x5 tent. Lots of questions about using UV/IR and we have to say we cant believe how tight these buds are, and how sticky with resin they are. We are very very happy! We of course used our jewelers loop and the tricombes range from cloudy to 20% amber depending on the bud and where it was under the light. Happy growing!

We are getting close, but not quite yet. It is amazing that just 4 plants can produce so many tops. They are not as big as they would be if we only had a few main colas, but we are quite curious about what our finish yield will be. LIGHT BURN - we are realizing how powerful these lights really are. We had a problem during vegetation with harsh light stress and learned to raise the lights and lower the wattage. In flowering we experimented with raising the wattage again, adding UV/IR, and raising the lights as high as they would go. We already again saw light stress but then something tragic happened. The hydro in our neighborhood went on and off a few times, and in doing so reset the lights to full 840 watt power. The plants got full power light for a full cycle and it burnt the tops of the middle top flowers. The first pic is the most damaged flower, but after 2 days back at 640 watts we can again see new white hairs growing, and not just toasted hairs like 2 days ago. Growing is always learning, and this being our 1st indoor grow has taught us a lot.

One week into flowering. Giving the plants a half hour of UV/IR to ease it in. We will be doing some more defoliation in the next day or so and will post a new video full update, this is just a peek.
