🚧 New project alert 🚧

Soon we’ll be getting started on the Western Road, Sarnia Road and Philip Aziz Avenue improvements in London.

This project is about more than construction. It’s about building a safer, more efficient corridor for the entire community.

Once complete, this area will see:
• Improved traffic flow and reduced congestion at a key intersection
• New and upgraded water, storm and sanitary infrastructure to support long-term growth
• Safer pedestrian crossings with more space and visibility
• New cycling infrastructure to better connect the community

We know… lane closures and traffic pylons aren’t anyone’s favourite. But it’s short-term pain for long-term gain, and the end result will be well worth it.

With thousands of people moving through this corridor every day, these upgrades will make a real difference—improving how people travel, connect and move through the city.

At Bre-Ex, we’re proud to play a role in projects like this—advancing our communities, improving critical infrastructure and helping make our roads safer for everyone.

According to BuildForce Canada, demand for non-residential construction—including transit, utilities, and industrial projects—is expected to remain strong for years to come.

This isn’t short-term. It’s a long-term investment in infrastructure.

That means:

• A steady pipeline of work
• Increasing project scale and complexity
• Continued demand for skilled teams in the field

We’re proud to be part of building the infrastructure that keeps communities moving and industries operating.

Long weekend mode: ON šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

After a busy start to the season, Victoria Day is a great time to recharge, spend time with family and enjoy a well-earned break.

We hope everyone has a safe and relaxing long weekend.

We’ll see you back on site soon.

If you think our projects are big… you should see what happens before we even break ground.

Long before equipment hits the site, there’s a massive amount of work happening behind the scenes.

Our team is reviewing specs, analyzing drawings, pricing the work and building detailed plans just to get the job off the ground. We’re coordinating permits, aligning timelines, confirming logistics and making sure every detail is accounted for before the first shovel goes in.

Because once construction starts, there’s no room for guesswork.

It takes experience, precision and a whole lot of coordination to turn a set of drawings into a successful project.

It’s not always the part people see—but it’s what sets everything else up for success.

While we might be tough guys with dirt under our nails and diesel fumes in our lungs... we all love our moms.

Today we celebrate the moms who build more than just careers.

From early mornings to long days, from job sites to home life – your strength, resilience and dedication don’t go unnoticed.

Whether you're on the tools, behind the plans or supporting from home, you play a huge role in everything we do.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Bre-Ex šŸ’

In construction, one thing is guaranteed. Plans will change.

Between weather delays, shifting timelines and unexpected challenges, keeping a project on track takes more than just hard work. It takes coordination, experience and the ability to adapt.

That’s where Bre-Ex brings real value.

Over the years, we’ve been strategic about how we’ve grown. By building a group of companies that includes KWS Electric, an aggregate source and dump site, we’re able to control critical pieces of the process that often cause delays.

When conditions change, we don’t wait—we adjust.

That flexibility allows us to keep projects moving and stay on track.

It’s not just about getting the job done, it’s about getting it done right, no matter what comes our way.

At Bre-Ex, our strength comes from the people behind the work. Today we’re spotlighting Maicon ā€œMikeā€ Da Silva, Project Manager. You may recognize Mike as he’s playing a critical role supporting our downtown sewer expansion project.

Mike brings a global perspective and a lifelong connection to construction. From working on residential builds in Brazil to managing complex projects here in Canada, his journey reflects a deep commitment to growth, learning, and getting the job done right.

Q: Can you tell us about your journey into construction and what brought you to Bre-Ex?
A: I’ve been around construction since I was a kid. My father built over 100 houses in Brazil, and I’m proud to have been involved in several of them. I earned a 100% scholarship for my Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, became a licensed Civil Engineer in Brazil in early 2016, and went on to start my own home-building company with a strong focus on sustainability.

Always seeking growth and new challenges, I moved to Canada and completed a post-graduate program in Construction Project Management in 2023 at Fanshawe College. During my studies, I closely followed Bre-Ex’s major downtown projects. In September 2023, I joined Bre-Ex as a Junior Project Coordinator. It has been an incredible learning journey, and I’ve been fortunate to work alongside talented professionals while contributing my skills, experience, and values to the team.

Q: What has the transition been like stepping into your role as a Project Manager?
A: The transition has been smooth and rewarding. Each step into the role brought increased responsibility but supported by an incredible team of professionals who were always willing to share their knowledge and experience. With such a strong team behind me, I’m confident in taking on any challenge.

Q: What is the favourite part of your current role?
A: Ensuring our projects move forward in the most efficient and safest manner possible is what I enjoy most. Our work often makes people stop and take a moment to watch our team in action, and being part of this work is truly a privilege.

Q: How has your background and experience shaped the way you approach your work?
A: Understanding how to build and being able to anticipate challenges before they arise has shaped the way I approach every project.

Q: What advice would you give to someone starting a career in construction or considering joining the Bre-Ex team?
A: Be proactive, work hard, and never stop learning. Bre-Ex is always busy and offers many opportunities for growth.

We’re proud—and truly grateful—to have strong, dedicated people like Maicon on the Bre-Ex team.

We’re always looking to add people to our team who want to build their skills and grow their careers, just like Mike. If that sounds like you, give us a call or reach out to learn more.

The construction industry is facing a major shift.

Heavy civil and industrial construction offers:

• Opportunities to learn valuable skills
• A chance to be part of projects that shape real communities

When you love construction as much as we do – you write a song about it.

That’s how "Construction Cowboys" was born – a tune that captures the spirit, pride and relentless grit of our crew. From dawn to midnight, through dirt and dust, we’re passionate about what we do because we believe in building more than just structures – we’re building our community, our legacy.

This song is a tribute to every Labourer, Operator, Engineer, Estimator, Project Manager and Foreman who shows up every day, ready to take on the world!

So, hop in your machine, close the cab door, crank this up – and let it rip!

This isn't just a song – it's the heart of what we do and who we are. Labourers in the dirt, operators on the heavy iron and foremen calling the shots under ...

Sewer expansion update!

Things are moving along as planned with the Sewer Expansion project happening by Mitchell A Baran park.

For those who missed it, this project is a critical upgrade happening beneath the Thames River where we’re replacing 100+ year old sewer pipes and increasing much needed sewer capacity in our downtown core. Through trenchless technology, we were able to bore two tunnels under the Thames River, spanning 215 meters without disrupting the ecosystem around or above the river.

Last week we started pulling the HDPE pipe that will transfer wastewater. There’s a run of 42ā€ pipe, a run of 36ā€ pipe and a run of 30ā€ pipe.

That’s 645m of wastewater pipe – the equivalent to 10 NHL regulation rinks lined end to end.

That wastewater pipe is equipped to carry 431,408 L of wastewater at any given time. That’s enough liquid to fill 10, 15x30 foot swimming pools. But you likely wouldn’t want to swim in that... eww.

We’re incredibly proud to be managing an essential infrastructure upgrade that will serve this city for decades to come. Stay tuned to see what’s next!

Happy Easter from all of us at Bre-Ex!

Spring is here! The ground begins to thaw, the weather turns warmer and the days grow longer.

It’s the season of renewal, growth and fresh opportunities. As we gear up for busy days ahead, we’re reminded of the importance of balance: working hard, but also taking time to rest, relax and rejuvenate.

This Easter, we wish everyone the opportunity to spend quality time with those who matter most, eat more chocolate than you should and enjoy some well-deserved downtime.
