🦇 BAT CAUGHT FLYING AROUND INSIDE A CUSTOMER’S HOME!

Our team was called out after this bat was found flying around inside a customer’s house. We safely captured and removed it — and up close you can see just how tiny and sharp those teeth really are. 🦇🦷

And right now is an especially important time of year to be cautious around bats.

⚠️ Late summer marks the beginning of swarming and mating activity for several Ontario bat species.

As summer comes to an end, bats begin changing their behaviour. Maternity colonies start breaking apart, young bats become more independent, and bats begin travelling and congregating around areas used for mating and eventually overwintering. During this period, increased movement can mean bats start showing up in places homeowners don’t normally see them. (The Land Between)

That can include inside homes.

Bats can carry rabies, and because their teeth and claws are extremely small, a bite or scratch may not always be obvious. Bat guano can also create health concerns when significant accumulations are disturbed.

🚫 Never grab a bat with your bare hands.
🚫 Keep children and pets away.
🚫 Don’t assume there was no contact simply because you can’t see a bite.

If someone wakes up with a bat in their room, or there is any possibility a person or pet was bitten, scratched or had direct contact, contact the appropriate healthcare, public health or veterinary professionals.

And remember — removing the bat is only half the job.

If a bat got inside, there may be a gap around the roofline, soffits, vents, fascia or another area allowing access. With bats becoming increasingly active during this seasonal transition, now is the time to pay attention to unusual activity around your home.

🚨 Bald-Faced Hornet Nest Removal! 🚨

This is what effective hornet control looks like. In this video, our technician applies a professional insecticidal dust directly into an active bald-faced hornet nest, eliminating the colony at its source. While the video ends after treatment, we also remove and dispose of the nest once it is safe to do so.

Bald-faced hornets are among the most aggressive stinging insects you’ll encounter. If they feel their nest is threatened, they can attack in large numbers and sting repeatedly, making DIY removal extremely dangerous.

If you notice increased hornet activity around your home, don’t wait until someone gets stung. Early treatment is the safest and most effective solution.

🦇 Think bats in your attic are harmless? Think again.

Bats are incredibly beneficial to our ecosystem, but they should never be living inside your home.

This attic had extensive bat activity, with guano covering large sections of the insulation. While many homeowners only notice scratching noises at night, the real dangers are often hidden above the ceiling.

A bat infestation can lead to:

* Large accumulations of bat guano
* Strong urine odours throughout the attic
* Airborne fungal spores associated with guano that can cause serious respiratory illness if disturbed
* Bat bugs, which are closely related to bed bugs and may spread into living spaces after bats are excluded
* Contaminated insulation that often requires removal and replacement
* Costly attic restoration if the problem is left untreated

The longer bats remain in your attic, the greater the health risks and the more expensive the cleanup can become.

At AMW Pest Control, we specialize in humane bat exclusion, permanently sealing entry points while allowing the bats to safely leave. We also provide attic restoration, sanitization, insulation replacement, and wildlife-proofing to help restore your home.

If you’ve heard scratching in your attic or have seen bats entering your roofline at dusk, don’t wait for the damage to get worse.

Professional wasp nest removal and preventative treatment in action. 🐝

In this video, our technician safely treats and removes an active paper wasp nest while applying a preventative exterior treatment to help reduce future wasp activity around the property.

Paper wasps often build nests around soffits, eaves, rooflines, decks, sheds and other protected exterior areas. Addressing the nest early can help prevent it from growing larger throughout the season.

Carpenter bees may look harmless at first, but the holes they create in wood can lead to much bigger problems over time. These bees drill perfectly round holes into decks, fences, fascia boards, soffits, pergolas, sheds, and other wooden structures to create nesting galleries inside the wood.

This video shows carpenter bees coming out of their holes after the wood has been treated. If you are seeing bees hovering around the same area, small round holes, or sawdust underneath the wood, there may already be active tunneling happening inside.

Treating carpenter bees early is important because repeated activity year after year can weaken the structure of the wood and lead to costly repairs.

🦝 baby raccoons rescued from inside a wall cavity!

this is what humane raccoon removal looks like.

these baby raccoons were safely removed from inside a wall cavity after their mother had chosen the space as a den. instead of separating the family, we carefully placed the babies in a secure reunion box outside, allowing the mother raccoon to return and carry each baby to a new location on her own.

once the raccoon family had safely left the property, we were able to secure the entry point to help prevent future wildlife from entering the home.

if you’re hearing scratching, crying, or movement inside your walls, attic, ceiling, or soffits, don’t ignore it. raccoons can cause significant damage to insulation, wiring, vents, and your home’s structure if left untreated.

we specialize in humane raccoon removal, wildlife removal, attic inspections, animal proofing, squirrel removal, bird removal, and long-term wildlife prevention throughout southern ontario.

06/27/2026

This video shows a baby raccoon safely exiting through a professionally installed one-way door. During baby season, raccoon removal needs to be handled the right way so the babies are not harmed, separated, or trapped inside the attic.

With humane raccoon removal, the goal is to allow the mother raccoon and babies to reunite and leave the home safely together. A one-way door prevents the raccoon from re-entering the attic while giving the family a safe way out.

This is a proper example of how raccoon removal should be done: no unnecessary harm to the animals, no unnecessary damage to the structure of the home, and a professional method that keeps the raccoon family together.

If you’re hearing noises in your attic, soffit, roofline, or walls, raccoons may already be inside your home.
