Same wall. Day and night. Swipe πŸ‘‰

By day it's tidy storage below, display shelves either side and every cable hidden inside the wall. At night the light comes on all the way round the TV and the whole room changes.

This is the room you'll be sitting in all winter. Want one in before Christmas? Send us a photo of the wall and we'll come back to you with a price.

Thinking about a garden office? Plan it this winter, use it by spring.

1. Pick the spot. Where's the sun in the afternoon, what will you see from the desk, and how far does the power have to run?
2. Insulate it properly. Walls, floor and roof. That's what turns a shed into a room you'll actually use in January.
3. Get the size right. Size affects planning, so talk to us before you buy anything.

Send us a photo of the garden and we'll come back to you with a price.

Floor to ceiling. Every inch used.

Three rules for fitted wardrobes that actually work:

1. Go right to the ceiling. No dust shelf on top, a lot more storage, and the room looks taller.
2. Plan the inside first. Long hanging, short hanging, shelves and drawers, planned around what you actually own.
3. Doors that disappear. Shaker doors painted the same colour as the walls, so the room feels calm instead of crammed.

Running out of space? Send us a photo of the room and we'll come back to you with a price.

Small garden? Four tricks to make a deck feel bigger.

1. Run the boards away from the house. It pulls the eye down the garden and makes it look longer.
2. One colour for everything. Boards, fascia and handrail in the same finish so it reads as one clean piece.
3. Build the seating in. A built in bench takes half the room of patio furniture and never needs storing.
4. Go wide on the steps. Full width steps feel open and double up as seating.

Winter is the best time to get your deck sorted, so it's ready for the first good day.

Clear roof or solid roof? How to pick.

Clear roof: best off the back of the house. The rain stays off and your kitchen keeps all its light.

Solid roof: best at the end of the garden. More shade, more shelter and a proper outdoor room feel.

Either way, think about the water. A fall on the roof, a gutter and a downpipe so the rain goes where you want it. Slatted screens at the sides keep the wind off without closing it in.

Build it over the winter and it's ready the first sunny day of spring.

Send us a photo of the garden and we'll come back to you with a price.

Why herringbone starts in the middle.

Lay herringbone from one wall and by the time you reach the other side, the pattern has wandered. So we do it the other way round.

1. We mark a centre line down the room first. Every block is set off that line, so the zigzag runs dead straight down the hall.
2. We work out from the middle to the walls, so both sides finish with the same cut.
3. It takes longer than straight planks. It's also the floor people stop and look at.

Send us a photo of the room and we'll come back to you with a price.

What happens before a single board goes down.

1. Check the subfloor. Dips and humps show through any floor, so we make sure it's flat first.
2. The right underlay. It takes the sound out, evens the floor and protects the boards.
3. Leave room to move. Floors expand and shrink with the seasons, so we leave a small gap round the edges and hide it under the skirting.
4. Undercut the door frames. The boards slide in under the frame for a clean finish. No gaps, no filler.

It's the bit nobody sees. It's also the bit that decides how your floor looks in five years.

Hide the radiator. Keep the heat.

What makes a good radiator cover:

1. Slats or a grille at the front, so the heat actually gets out.
2. Room to breathe above the radiator, so warm air rises into the room.
3. Access to the valves, because you still need to bleed it and turn it up.
4. Matched to the room. Same colour and style as the panelling, so it looks like it was always there. And a shelf for the keys and the post.

Got an ugly radiator in the hall? Send us a photo and we'll come back to you with a price.
