Passive House is one of the most demanding and sought-after building standards in BC, and our team has been delivering mechanical systems for these projects for years.

The standard is built around an extremely airtight building envelope, which means mechanical systems have to perform at a higher level than a conventional build. Ventilation, heating, and plumbing all need to be carefully coordinated to work within tight energy and performance targets. There's very little margin for error.

We've delivered to Passive House standards on projects like 1766 Frances Street in Vancouver, and are currently doing the same at Lakeview United on Semlin Drive. It's work we take seriously.

As BC continues to push toward higher energy performance in new residential construction, Passive House isn't going anywhere. We're ready for it.

Progress is building at 3839 Canada Way in Burnaby.

The parkade and foundation levels are established, concrete is climbing, and our team is already active on site as mechanical work gets underway. With plumbing sleeves set and systems coordination in full swing, Vanguard is on the ground and moving with the build.

171 residential units and 20 street-level commercial spaces are taking shape, and we're glad to be delivering the full mechanical scope alongside Urban One Builders as this mixed-use development moves into its next phase.

A well-earned BBQ lunch for the crew at our Canada Way project in Burnaby.

Our site team puts in the work every day to keep this build moving, and taking a moment to get together over some good food is always worth it. A big thanks to Nick Trottier for firing up the grill and feeding the crew on a beautiful day.

From groundbreaking to grand opening, here's how far the Chief Leonard George Building came.

This nine-storey, Indigenous-focused housing project in Vancouver delivered 81 affordable rental homes, built to Passive House standards from the ground up.

Vanguard was proud to provide full mechanical services on this meaningful, community-focused project, delivered in partnership with the BC Indigenous Housing Society, from start to finish.

Progress continues at Lakeview United in Vancouver.

Structural work is advancing across the site, with concrete forming underway and crews preparing for the next stage of the build. This six-storey, 104-unit residential development is designed to meet Passive House standards and will include the new Lakeview United Church built above a shared parkade.

Vanguard is proud to be delivering the full mechanical scope, alongside our long-time partner, Ventana Construction Vancouver, as this community-focused project continues to take shape.

A lot can change over the course of a project.

This before-and-after look at Zappone Manor in Surrey shows the full journey, from early construction to a completed 89-unit, five-storey senior housing development in the Cloverdale community.

Vanguard was proud to deliver the full mechanical scope for this project, working alongside Yellowridge Construction to help bring affordable housing to seniors in the community.
