And by the time we got there… it was too late. 😔

We cannot count how many times we’ve been to a customer’s house and they don’t know where their main water shut-off valve is. Once they have a leak, they panic, and by the time we or the city show up to shut it off, the leak has spread and caused considerable damage.

💡 DID YOU KNOW?

Got a stubborn drain that just won’t clear? Before reaching for harsh chemicals, a shop vac can sometimes help pull out debris and break up a tough blockage.

Here’s a simple trick to try:

🚰 Remove as much standing water as possible from around the drain.
🫧 Create a tight seal over the drain opening with the shop vac hose.
💨 Turn on the shop vac and let it work for several seconds to try to pull the blockage back toward the opening.
🔄 Repeat a few times if necessary, checking the drain between attempts.

⚠️ Important: Be careful when using a shop vac around plumbing fixtures, and never use it on a drain that has chemical drain cleaner sitting in it.

If the blockage still won’t budge, there may be a deeper obstruction that requires professional drain cleaning equipment.

You can’t do quality work without a quality setup.

We built these shelves using wood framing to keep costs down, added a Husky toolbox to keep our tools organized, and fully stocked this van for the work we do most: plumbing, heating, and drain work.

This setup allows us to handle most small-to-medium jobs without having to run back to the shop. For larger jobs, we’ll grab the dedicated equipment we need.

Everything is labeled and organized because being able to find the right tool quickly means getting the job done faster. It also cuts down on unnecessary trips to the supplier—which, with the price of gas these days, adds up fast.

A client’s gas line was struck during excavation, leaving them without gas service. FortisBC ran a new gas line and installed a new meter, and we received the call on Friday to complete the connection.

Our team got to work and had the customer back up and running the very same day.

But days like this are about more than just getting the job done.

We’re big believers that training, hands-on experience, and proper support are what create great plumbers for the future. Every job is an opportunity to learn, build confidence, and pass knowledge on to the next generation of tradespeople.

Oh, the battle of keeping our vans organized so we can succeed out in the field. It’s step one.

Even if it’s Friday and you just slammed in three boilers during the week, when you roll in Monday at 7 AM to a messy van… that’s a heavy load before the day even starts.

We tell our guys: take the extra 10 minutes after every job to put your tools and materials back where they belong. Easier said than done, but small disciplines create big results.

What I enjoy most about being a plumber and running a plumbing business is the challenge. It makes me feel alive when every day there is something new to look forward to. The failures, no matter how much they hurt at the present time, give me an opportunity to grow even further when the scars heal. Watching our team members grow through the training we provide is a satisfying feeling.

We just replaced an old water heater with a brand-new, code-compliant system, and this one came with a little bonus, we were able to acquire the tank under warranty for a homeowner who just had a water main leak, saving them some money! 💰

The new setup includes:
• Earthquake straps for peace of mind
• Expansion tank & drain pan to prevent surprises
• Fresh pressure regulator & shut-off valves
• Upgraded exhaust for better performance

The homeowner decided to keep their old gas shut-off valve — some things are just “vintage chic”! 😄
