❄️ WINTER ISN’T TOO FAR AWAY! 🚛

It might still feel like summer, but around Emcon, we know Old Man Winter is already on the way! 🌨️

Across our operations in BC, Alberta, and Ontario, our shops have been busy getting trucks ready, serviced, and winter-prepped. From inspections and repairs to making sure equipment is ready to tackle snow, ice, and whatever Mother Nature throws our way, the work starts well before the first flakes fly.

Because when winter arrives, we need to be ready to roll. 🛠️❄️

Summer might be here today, but the countdown to winter has already begun!

🚧 ACTIVE PITS ARE NOT A PLACE TO EXPLORE 🚧

That shortcut, that photo opportunity, or that quick look around an active pit can come with serious consequences.

Active pits are busy work zones with heavy equipment, haul trucks, steep slopes, unstable ground, moving material, and changing site conditions. Operators may not see someone entering the site, and visitors can unknowingly put themselves directly in the path of danger.

At Emcon Services, safety comes first. If you see a “NO TRESPASSING” sign, respect it. These restrictions are there to protect workers, the public, and everyone who may be on site.

👉 Stay out of active pits unless you are authorized personnel.
👉 Never assume an empty-looking area is safe.
👉 Keep children, pets, and recreational vehicles out of active work areas.
👉 If you need access, contact the appropriate site operator first.

One wrong step can change everything. Stay safe. Stay out.

Repairing/ replacing w beam struck on Hwy 63

Repairing a damaged W-beam guardrail is important because it is a critical roadside safety device designed to protect drivers when vehicles leave the roadway.

* Restores protection: A damaged or displaced beam may not redirect a vehicle properly during a collision.
* Maintains the system’s strength: Posts, beams, bolts, and connections work together as a system. Damage to one section can reduce the effectiveness of the entire installation.
* Prevents secondary hazards: Loose, bent, or exposed components can create additional hazards for motorists and maintenance crews.
* Protects workers and the public: Prompt repairs reduce the time that an unsafe section remains exposed to traffic.
* Maintains highway safety standards: Guardrails need to remain in the condition and configuration they were designed for.
* Reduces liability and risk: Timely inspection and repair demonstrate that roadway safety infrastructure is being properly maintained.

Simply put: a damaged W-beam isn’t just cosmetic damage—it can mean the guardrail may not perform when it is needed most. Prompt repair helps ensure the barrier is ready to protect the next driver.

🦌 Can you see him?? 👀

Just another day at the office for our Quesnel crew! This little guy decided the sand pile was the perfect spot to hang out, chill, and take in the view. 😂

We’re pretty sure he’s got the best seat in the yard!

🔧 Building connections in the skilled trades! 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️

Emcon Services Inc. recently had the opportunity to visit Fanshawe College’s Don Crich Skilled Trades Accelerator in London! 📍

It was a great opportunity to connect with the Fanshawe team, learn more about the support available to skilled trades students and graduates, and continue building relationships that help connect talented individuals with career opportunities at Emcon. 🤝

We’re excited to keep strengthening these connections and supporting the next generation of skilled trades professionals! 🚛🛠️

A big thank you to the Fanshawe College team for the warm welcome! 👏
