A serious vehicle incident has the highway closed south of Helmer interchange, both directions. A closure is being setup at the 290 interchange in Merritt to direct traffic along an alternate route HIGHWAY 5A.

There is no estimated time of re-opening. Please use highway 5a as an alternate route. Check DriveBC for road updates.

Good morning,

Forecasts are calling for snow at higher elevations this evening, with road accumulations possible under heavier precipitation and colder temps. We're anticipating some potential road snow around the Pennask Summit on the Okanagan Connector, Surrey Summit on the Coq to Kamloops, and possibly at the Coquihalla Summit near Falls Lake.

It's that time of year we remind folks to please drive to conditions, and understand weather can change suddenly and severely along our mountain passes. Winter tires are mandatory as of October 1; if you do not have winters equipped, please do not travel high-elevation routes. Operators will be out tonight monitoring road conditions. As always, please watch for yellow flashing lights, which mean our plows are in Winter Work Mode and require extra room. Slow down, respect the equipment and operator, and wait for a safe time to pass. The safest spot on the highway in a winter storm is behind a plow!

Hello,

Forecasts are calling for continued rain across the Service Area today. Please be cautious and watch for pooling water during heavy rainfall. Additionally, as rain continues and temperatures drop overnight, a transition to snow may occur during early morning hours. While we don't anticipate any road accumulations, some brief slush ups can't be entirely ruled out around Pennask Summit under heavy rainfall conditions.

We acknowledge that winter tires are not mandatory until Oct 1, however, please consider staying off the Okanagan Connector late this evening if your are still running summers.

Hearing reports of a vehicle fire south of Box Canyon affecting traffic. Traffic may be stopped temporarily for safety reasons. Please expect delays if travelling northbound from Hope. Drivebc

Good morning,

Highway 1 is closed due to increased severe fire activity within the Brunswick Creek Wildfire Complex. Closures are stationed at Junction of 1 & 8, and 1 & 12. Please check Drivebc for updates. There is no access to Hope or Vancouver from Highway 1 at this time.

Good afternoon, we have traffic control stationed on Highway 1 at the junction of 1 & 8, and 1 & 12 due to the Boston Bar wildfire. Only local traffic will be permitted down Highway 1 from these closure points at this time. Commercial vehicles detour on Highway 97C. We will provide updates as they come in.

Hello,

We are starting work on the Snowshed Hill this afternoon. A left lane closure will be in place both directions until June 30 to complete leftover drain work from last summer. Speed has been reduced to 60km/hr both directions from Zopkios to the Snowshed.

Please obey traffic control signage and speed drops. If you have any concerns or would like to report something (downed sign, cones, etc.) please call our office.
