Stuwix continues to assess and engineer burnt stands impacted by the Ainslie Creek Fire in the Upper Prospect and Hooshum Watersheds for salvage harvesting this Winter. To date, crews have visited +-260ha of high severity burn areas to salvage the Spruce, Pine and Balsam that will significant degrade (checking/cracking) if not harvested prior to next Summer. Salvaging in a timely manner, while respecting the water and wildlife values that have been severely impacted allows for watershed rehabilitation to start sooner with some of the areas planned for planting in 2027 with the rest in 2028, as seedlings inventories allow. +-40ha of moderate to low severity burn has been visited that will be monitored over the next 9 months to determine if it survives or not.
