HTI is proud to be part of the construction of the “Guardian” Memorial River Lighting Project on the Carleton Street Bridge Pier in Fredericton.
This memorial will honour the commitment and sacrifice of police officers and first responders, while remembering the tragic events of August 10, 2018 that deeply impacted the Fredericton community.
Our crews and equipment are currently working from the river to help bring this project to life. Once complete, the pier will illuminate with a gentle blue glow each evening, visible from the city’s trail system and surrounding bridges.
We are honoured to contribute to a project with such meaning for the City of Fredericton, first responders, and the community as a whole.

Construction of “Guardian”, a memorial dedicated to honouring the commitment of police officers and first responders, is currently under construction on the Carleton Street Bridge Pier. This memorial initiative comes in response to the tragic events of August 10, 2018, which deeply affected the city, community, and the Fredericton Police Force.
The pier will illuminate a gentle blue glow every evening at dusk, run fully lit through the night, and gradually fade at dawn. The memorial stands in the middle of the Wolastoq (Saint John) River, able to be seen by anyone walking along the City’s trail loop along either side of the river’s north and south sides, the Westmorland Street Bridge and the Bill Thorpe Walking Bridge.
Work will continue over the coming weeks and is expected to be complete in late July or early August.
