After breaking down the pros and cons of artificial turf… here’s a real example from one of our recent installs 👇

This is what proper turf installation actually looks like. It’s not just laying down material; it starts with full excavation, grading, and a properly compacted base to ensure drainage and long-term stability.

In this project, we also installed the retaining wall as part of the overall design to properly structure the space and support the finished grades. The goal isn’t just a clean finish on day one. It’s a surface that performs through seasons, heavy use, and weather changes. We will break down some of the technical details behind retaining walls in a future post so stay tuned.

Artificial turf can be a great solution when it fits the space and is installed with the right process behind it.

Artificial grass is becoming more popular but it is not a one-size-fits-all solution.

✔️ Low maintenance (no mowing, watering, or mud)
✔️ Stays green all season
✔️ Great for high-traffic areas and pets

But…

✖️ Higher upfront cost
✖️ Can get hot in direct sun
✖️ Not as “alive” as real grass (literally)
✖️ Drainage and base prep need to be done right

We have installed both and the truth is: it depends on how you use your space.

If you want clean, polished, and low upkeep → turf can be a great option!
If you value cooling, biodiversity, and natural feel → real grass still wins.
