Many business out there talk about warranties. In the trade industry, there are two warranties that exist. First being labour, this means any company that installs something wrong is and should be held accountable for there installation errors. Hopefully they stand behind that.
Second, materials. This is the misconstrued B/S, that exists everywhere!
In roofing materials, and I’m sure with many other products, warranty presentation in the deep fine print offer a lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects.
What this means is the product has a lifetime warranty against manufacturers defects. This does not mean the product will last a lifetime. The product will only last to its environmental exposure. The greater the sun, snow, etc the product will fail accordingly.
Housing products are designed to fail with a life expectancy, this keeps our economy rolling. With that said, There are most certainly products out there designed to last longer but that’s up to research and elevated cost. I, as a businessman full of integrity I try to share this with the customers I’m exposed too. I never sell, I educate and hope I can make a difference. Keating has been in business for three generations, contractors offer warranties on paper, but do they stand behind it? Or follow up when needed?
I received a call today from a women we did a roof for 5 years ago. At the time she was just widowed. She choose to stay in her family home in lieu of an old age facility. She called about a roof issue today, but that wasn’t present. She needed help around her house and didn’t know who else to call.
I expressed my concern to her and furthermore will have staff stop by to assist with her needs. small business warranties are something on paper, integrity and being a good human being is what makes your business last. My team will great fully help this kind sole and that is what makes us great! Be honest about your sales, make a profit but always take care of those that buy.
