🏆Le 12 mai dernier, Sayeh Jolan et Charline Lezerac ont souligné le travail de la relève en remettant le prix EVOQ au projet « Le Quartier du Dimanche » dans l’atelier final de Design Urbain. Ce projet, réalisé par Vanni Lussier, Alexandre Molard et Céleste Marquis, nous a touché avec son intégration fine et paysagère au site emblématique de la Tohu, malgré tous les défis qu’il comporte.

🏆On May 12th, Sayeh Jolan and Charline Lezerac highlighted the work of the next generation by presenting the EVOQ award to the project "Le Quartier du Dimanche" in the final Urban Design studio. This project, created by Vanni Lussier, Alexandre Molard, and Céleste Marquis, moved us with its thoughtful and landscape-sensitive integration into the iconic Tohu site, despite all the challenges it entails.

EVOQ Architecture X Ryder Architecture proposition for the 200-Block Banff Avenue Redevelopment competition.

Our proposal for the Banff National Park Visitor Centre envisions the new Visitor Centre as a place of arrival and encounter, a symbolic gateway to Banff National Park. It emerges from the landscape, informed by the geology, history, and cultural significance of the site. Grounded in an understanding of place, the design acknowledges the enduring presence and stewardship of Indigenous peoples whose connection to this land predates colonial boundaries.

The architectural and landscape approach draws from the town’s built and rustic heritage while reflecting the enduring significance of the broader geography, particularly the Bow River Valley. The mountains and the river remain the living ancestors of the territory, shaping knowledge, healing, identity, and connection to place. Their cultural and spiritual significance endures for the many Indigenous nations who continue to call the valley home.

The project’s ascending progression reinforces the site’s connection to Banff’s surrounding landscape. The building’s sectional organization shapes the design experience, establishing a promenade of ascent that guides visitors through the Centre’s program activities. The architecture frames views of the peaks surrounding the town, revealing the geography that defines it.

Architecture is an echo of the land, embracing the authenticity of materials, the memory of place, and the natural rhythms of the landscape.

🌿Écoquartier ITUM
En collaboration avec Atelier Urbain, 2Architectures et O’yenhra, EVOQ Architecture a développé des concepts d'habitation et de développement d’un écoquartier destiné à la communauté d'Innu Takuaikan Uashat mak Mani-utenam (ITUM). Ce projet unique conjugue respect des traditions innues et réponse aux défis contemporains liés aux changements climatiques.

Notre proposition s'articule autour de trois axes prioritaires pour la communauté : le développement durable, l'optimisation des espaces intérieurs et l'harmonisation entre l'habitation et son environnement extérieur. Les recommandations architecturales visent à minimiser l'empreinte environnementale, améliorer le confort des occupants et diminuer la consommation énergétique.

En intégrant les valeurs culturelles de la communauté innue dès la conception, ce projet témoigne d'une approche sensible et respectueuse, où l'architecture devient un vecteur de préservation identitaire.

🌿ITUM Eco-Neighborhood
In collaboration with Atelier Urbain, 2Architectures, and O’yenhra, EVOQ Architecture has developed housing and eco-neighborhood development concepts for the Innu Takuaikan Uashat mak Mani-utenam (ITUM) community. This unique project combines respect for Innu traditions with a response to contemporary challenges related to climate change.

Our proposal is based on three priorities for the community: sustainable development, optimization of interior spaces, and harmony between housing and its outdoor environment. The architectural design aims to minimize the environmental footprint, improve occupant comfort, and reduce energy consumption.

By integrating the cultural values of the Innu community from the design stage onwards, this project demonstrates a sensitive and respectful approach, where architecture becomes a vehicle for preserving identity.

Un édifice centenaire au cœur du Vieux-Montréal ✨

Construit entre 1899 et 1902, l'édifice Gérald-Godin (360 McGill) est un joyau patrimonial et l'un des témoins les plus remarquables de l'histoire industrielle et institutionnelle de Montréal. Ancien siège social de la compagnie de chemins de fer du Grand Tronc, puis du Canadien National, il est aujourd'hui protégé en vertu de la Loi sur le patrimoine culturel et inscrit dans le secteur de valeur patrimoniale exceptionnelle du Vieux-Montréal.

EVOQ accompagne ce bâtiment depuis plus de vingt ans, de la restauration de ses éléments patrimoniaux à diriger en co-dirigeant l'analyse et de la planification en vue de sa réhabilitation à venir.

A century-old building in the heart of Old Montreal ✨

Built between 1899 and 1902, the Gérald-Godin Building (360 McGill) is a heritage gem and one of the most remarkable testaments to Montreal’s industrial and institutional history. Once the head office of the Grand Trunk Railway, then of Canadian National, it is now protected under the Cultural Heritage Act and recognized as part of Old Montreal’s sector of exceptional heritage value.

EVOQ has been involved with the building for over twenty years, from the restoration of its heritage elements to co-leading the analysis and planning for its upcoming rehabilitation.

Consultations publiques pour le futur Centre d’accueil du Parc national Nibiischii 🌿

En avril, nos collègues Roxanne et Mathilde ont visité Mistissini, en Eeyou Istchee (territoire Cri), dans le cadre du développement du Centre d’accueil du Parc national Nibiischii (Nibiischii - Réserve faunique Albanel Mistassini Waconichi) : https://www.nibiischii.com/fr/.

Elles ont pu visiter le site du projet, mais surtout participer au premier tour des consultations avec les membres de la communauté. Animées par l’équipe de La Boîte Rouge VIF, avec le support d’EVOQ, les rencontres ont permis de connaitre la perspective et les souhaits de différents groupes de la communauté : les jeunes, les aînés, le groupe de tourisme et développement économique ainsi que les maîtres-trappeurs (Cree Tallymen).

✨ Les idées partagées lors de ces riches échanges nourriront la conception du bâtiment aux prochaines étapes du projet.


Public Consultations for the future Nibiischii National Park Welcome Center 🌿

In April, our colleagues Roxanne and Mathilde visited Mistissini, in Eeyou Istchee (Cree territory) Quebec, for our Welcome Center project for the Nibiischii National Park (Nibiischii - Réserve faunique Albanel Mistassini Waconichi): https://www.nibiischii.com/en/.

As well as touring the site, they participated in the first round of important consultations with community members. Facilitated by La Boîte Rouge VIF team with support from EVOQ, the workshops provided insight into the perspectives and wishes of youth and elders, tourism and economic development groups, and Cree tallymen, the traditional land stewards of this region.

✨ The ideas shared during these insightful exchanges will deeply inform our work as we begin the project design.

Nous sommes ravis que le projet Union Station ait été nommé parmi les 20 finalistes des Design Excellence Awards 2026 de Ontario Association of Architects . Nous sommes fiers d’y avoir contribué à titre d’architectes spécialisés en patrimoine, en collaboration avec NORR.

Sélectionnés par un jury d’experts en design, les finalistes de cette année représentent une grande diversité de typologies de bâtiments. Choisi parmi 96 candidatures, notre projet a été évalué selon des critères tels que la créativité, la sensibilité au contexte, la durabilité, l’intégration d’un design exemplaire et fonctionnel, ainsi que la pérennité.

Félicitations aux lauréats et à tous les finalistes pour leurs projets inspirants !

We are thrilled that the Union Station project has been named one of the 20 finalists for the 2026 Ontario Association of Architects Design Excellence Awards. We are proud to have contributed as Heritage Architects for the project, in collaboration with NORR.

Selected by a jury of design experts, this year’s finalists represent a diverse range of building types. Chosen from 96 eligible submissions, our project was evaluated on criteria including creativity, contextual sensitivity, sustainability, the integration of good design/good business, and lasting legacy.

🌍 En ce Jour de la Terre, nous sommes fiers d’annoncer une nouvelle étape de notre engagement environnemental !

Nous avons obtenu l’Attestation du programme Carboneutre de Lcl Environnement, niveau Or – volet entreprise pour 2025. Cette reconnaissance s’inscrit dans une démarche visant à renforcer notre crédibilité environnementale : quantification des GES, plan d’action, cibles de réduction et engagement de la direction. Nous avons compensé 167 tonnes de GES en soutenant des projets locaux avec Solutions Will partenaire spécialisé en mesure, réduction et compensation des émissions.

EVOQ détient aussi la certification Ecocert Écoresponsable niveau 2 – Performance depuis 2019, confirmant la mise en place de bonnes pratiques environnementales et sociétales.

Ces reconnaissances reflètent une démarche continue d’amélioration et notre volonté d’intégrer des pratiques responsables, concrètes et mesurables au cœur de nos activités. 🌿

🌍 On this Earth Day, we are proud to announce a new milestone in our environmental commitment.

We have obtained our Carbon Neutral Program Attestation from Lcl Environnement, Gold level – Business category, for 2025. This recognition is part of a comprehensive approach to strengthen our environmental credibility, including GHG quantification, action planning, reduction targets, and management commitment. We have offset 167 tonnes of GHG emissions by supporting local projects with Solution Will , a partner specialized in measuring, reducing, and offsetting carbon footprints.

We also highlight that EVOQ has held Ecocert’s Écoresponsable Level 2 performance certification since 2019, confirming strong environmental and social practices.

These certifications reflect a continuous improvement process and our commitment to integrating responsible, concrete, and measurable practices at the core of our operations. 🌿

🌿 Quand l'architecture fait écho au territoire.
Le Centre régional de rétablissement Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre, à Kuujjuaq, ne cherche pas à s'imposer sur la péninsule rocheuse qui le porte, il s'y dépose. Ses deux grandes ailes évoquent les branches de l'urpik, le saule arctique, plante indigène et symbole de l'organisme. Le revêtement sobre laisse parler le paysage. Aux extrémités de chaque ailes, des lieux de rassemblement (Qaggiq) sont repérable par leur enveloppe de bois chaud qui rappellent le doux chatoiement des bourgeons au printemps.

Ici, l'intégration au paysage n'est pas qu'une question d'esthétique. C'est une intention thérapeutique : la nature fait partie du soin.

Un projet conçu avec la communauté, pour les communautés du Nunavik.

🌿 When architecture echoes the land.
The Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre in Kuujjuaq doesn't impose itself on the rocky peninsula it rests upon, it settles into it. Its two long wings echo the branches of the urpik, the Arctic willow, an indigenous plant and the symbol of the organization. The understated cladding lets the landscape speak. At the tip of each wing, gathering spaces (Qaggiq) are recognizable by their warm wood envelope, evoking the soft shimmer of willow catkins in spring buds.

Here, landscape integration is more than an aesthetic choice, it is a therapeutic intention. Nature is part of the healing.

Saviez-vous que le nouveau Pavillon de l'Entrepreneuriat et de l'innovation de l' | Université du Québec à Montréal prend vie dans l'ancienne école Alexandra, construite en 1910 et identifiée comme bâtiment à valeur patrimoniale et architecturale par la Ville de Montréal?

Complété en 2025 le projet agrandit ce bâtiment historique tout en respectant scrupuleusement ses caractéristiques, dont la façade d’expression néo-Tudor avec un socle en pierre de taille. Les principales qualités du bâtiment sont fondées sur ses éléments décoratifs de béton préfabriqué, notamment dans le traitement des ouvertures et de ses entrées ouvragées. L'ajout contemporain de deux étages en verre se veut être un dialogue entre époques, pas une confrontation. Vous êtes passé devant ? Vous l'aviez remarqué ?

Un tel projet ne se fait pas sans les bonnes mains. Sur le chantier, c'est M.C. Rainville qui a assuré l'ensemble de la restauration des maçonneries de la façade, un travail colossal et minutieux. Et pour les deux tableaux décoratifs, c'est Simon Larochelle, tailleur de pierre et sculpteur, qui a apporté tout son art et sa précision. Un grand merci à tous les artisans qui ont contribué à révéler ce joyau du Quartier latin. 🙌🧱

Did you know that UQAM's new Entrepreneurship and Innovation Pavilion is housed in the former Alexandra School, built in 1910 and identified as a building of heritage and architectural value by the Ville de Montréal?

Completed in 2025, the project expands this historic building while scrupulously respecting its characteristics, including its neo-Tudor façade with a cut-stone base. The building's most distinctive heritage qualities lie in its precast concrete decorative elements, particularly where used at window openings and ornate entrances. The contemporary addition of two glass floors is designed to be a dialogue between eras, not a clash. Take a look the next time you walk by!

A project like this wouldn't be possible without the right hands. On site, it was M.C. Rainville who handled the complete masonry restoration of the façade, a massive and meticulous undertaking. And for the two decorative panels, it was Simon Larochelle, stone carver and sculptor, who brought all his artistry and precision to the work. A big thank you to all the artisans who helped reveal this gem of the Latin Quarter. 🙌🧱
