🔥 A Great Weekend Supporting FireSmart in San Pareil! 🌲

We were proud to work alongside the Regional District of Nanaimo this past weekend, providing the chipping and collection for the San Pareil FireSmart curbside cleanup.

The turnout was incredible — over 90 properties participated, with 11 tons (48 m³) of yard debris collected and chipped!

It was great to see so many residents taking an active role in reducing wildfire risk around their homes and throughout their community.

A big thank you to the RDN, the San Pareil community, and everyone involved for making the event such a success. Our crew had a great time being part of it!

🌲 Proper Fir Tree Pruning & Wind Firming 🌲

This large fir received a careful structural prune focused on improving its overall form, stability, and long-term health.

Our crew used proper pruning techniques to remove co-dominant tops, selectively tip back extended limbs, reduce excess weight and wind resistance, and wind-firm the canopy. Rather than topping or heavily stripping the tree, the goal was to retain a natural canopy while improving its structure and allowing wind to move more evenly through the crown.

When working with large mature trees, proper pruning is about selective cuts—not simply removing as much as possible. 🌲check out the before - during - after of this great project!

🌲 Removing Dangerous Old Growth Fir Trees 🌲

This week, we safely dismantled and removed two hazardous old growth Fir trees (with permits in place) that were causing damage to surrounding property and creating safety concerns for nearby structures. 💥

While we love and value trees for all they provide, sometimes removal is the best and safest option—especially when:

✔️ The tree is diseased or dying
✔️ It poses a risk to homes, people, or power lines
✔️ Root systems are damaging foundations, driveways, or plumbing
✔️ Severe leaning or structural failure is present
✔️ Storm damage has compromised its integrity

Using proper rigging techniques, our team ensured the trees were removed with care and precision—protecting the property and everyone on-site.

If you’re concerned about a tree on your property, reach out! We’re happy to assess and help find the safest solution.

Successful View Enhancement Project! 🌲✨

We recently completed a challenging view enhancement project in steep terrain. Our team safely removed overgrown trees and vegetation, improving the scenic view while maintaining the landscape's integrity. With a full cleanup performed, we made sure no debris was left behind.

To minimize waste and promote sustainability, we transported the firewood rounds to another location for repurposing.

Additionally, we had our ticketed Traffic Control Person (TCP) managing traffic below the bank, ensuring safety and smooth operations during the entire project.

A rewarding project with great results!
