Front lawn was browning off in the worst of the heat and nobody could figure out why. System was running, controller looked happy, grass kept dying. Dug down and there it was — someone had run new internet conduit straight across the irrigation main and clipped the poly on the way through. Every cycle, the water was going into the trench instead of the lawn. Patched the line, pressure-tested it, back to normal. The kicker: a flow meter on the controller would've caught the drop the first time it ran and saved the lawn a week of dying. Instead the grass had to be the alarm.
