Scarborough, before and after.

The old fence was leaning into the weeds and the side yard hadn't been usable in years. We took it out and put up [ft] ft of 6 ft (1.8 m) board-on-board privacy fence with a new gate. Old fence hauled away, yard raked, done in two days.

What is a composite fence — and why do people pay more for it?

Composite boards are made of wood fibre and polymer. They look like wood, but they don't behave like it: no rot, no cracking, no fading, no painting or staining — ever. The boards sit on aluminum posts set in concrete, so there's no wood in the ground to decay.

That's the whole point: a wood fence needs staining every few years and a repair when a post goes. A composite fence needs neither.

Where the ground is open, posts go in the standard way — dug and set below the frost line.
Where there's a slab or walkway, posts get surface-mounted on heavy steel bases, anchored into the concrete.
