2025 has been a forgettable year for me for a number of life reasons, definitely not just plants. sure, the “rare plant” landscape has changed pretty dramatically over the last 18 months, TC is dominating the industry & plant landscape, and I think my have flipped completely. I did a lot more outdoor gardening this year, broadened my understanding of the hobby, got some depth in areas I’d neglected, and pulled back on the collector FOMO (try 18 month ). things feel like they’re in a much better spot for a proper “reset” now.

anyhow, wishing you all a happy new year (if a couple of days early). looking forward to a much improved 2026. I might even get back into some videos again soon… 🤞🏼🌿🥂

this big beautiful bastard just keeps on growing and sizing up even though I’ve kept in pretty middling conditions at best – in front of a grow light and on a heat mat, sure, but bare root in water with nothing but super basic feed and a little superthrive since I got him.

laziness wins over here right now – been a tough slog the last month. I’m glad he hasn’t succumbed to any root rot and has actually been putting on new water roots while he waits for the inevitable repotting.

no filter. also no anthuriums 😂.

just planted out my first herbs of the season – bbq rosemary and tarragon. we only get sunshine for 1 days a week here in May, it seems. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I gave these guys their own terracotta pot this year because the thyme I had shared with them last year took over goddamn everything. so now thyme gets his own room.

now I just need to figure this out with my kids. 🤦‍♂️

baby bro and big bro.

the little guy was a stump with the barest hint of a questionable growth point when I received it via from .ec and it was definitely touch and go for a while there.

I have a replacement waiting in the wings, but I was pretty pumped to see that the tree fern + perlite saved this guy (it had minimal roots) and it’s starting to bounce back. I’ve had it sitting in a doubled-up drink container taped together at the back of my for nearly 3 months so I’m happy to see it’s finally starting to acclimate and come back.

the colour on these guys is amazing, grey-green with a hint of slate. there’s a bit of a buff shine to it but it’s so different from my orher anthuriums that it’s definitely going to have a special spot around here once I’ve finished rehabbing it. love the contrast against my “unknown papi hybrid” x lux from in the background.

this guy surprised me. thought he was going to take his sweet time acclimating to and no, lo and behold, spectacular leaf pops when no one’s expecting it. and the form is so much more mature than the previous leaf.

I have this guy sitting in pretty weak conditions… open air in my downstairs with super low humidity; and this leaf came out pretty solid. props to because I’ve taken 2 props off this and they’re both just as healthy as the mother plant.

btw, if you’re interested in one of the props and you’re in , hit me up in my DMs and we can figure something out.

still floppy.. already 50% larger than the last leaf and it’s not even hardened off yet. looks plain evil up close, blood red sinus and midrib. still a little bit weirdly asymmetrical which I absolutely love.

ok.. don’t get too excited seeing those abs. 🤤

this guy had absolutely mediocre roots after I got him in here via .ec, mostly due to delays between plant shipping and me picking it up from my “plant handler” (thanks brandon!). no fault on anyone besides myself here, but we’re still trying to get re-rooted.

but I have high hopes for this little bastard. he already looks great, so want to keep him that way. he also has a growth point that has NOT died off or dried out yet, so hope still lives on. he’s in tree fern and perlite with a leca base layer, roots dipped into on the way in. been a couple of weeks, now we wait and see.

interestingly I’ve kept this guy in open air (low 30-40% room humidity) the entire time, though on a heat mat. I’ve rooted other that were clearly more sensitive to humidity in exactly the same way, on the same heat mat, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. this was a select pick so I do really like it… updates to come as it rehabs.
