Feature No. 3: The Fireplace

And for the final feature from this stunning property, we saved one of our favourites for last……… the fireplace. 🤍

We started by extending the fireplace with custom wood framing, followed by concrete board and galvanized metal lath over the entire structure. A carefully applied scratch coat created the foundation for the stonework, before the entire fireplace was transformed with beautiful cultured stone.

To finish it off, we installed a natural stone hearth, adding that substantial, timeless detail that truly completes the space.

From the chimney, to the breezeway wall, to this incredible fireplace, we had an absolute blast bringing these stone features to life.

Three features. One beautiful home. Countless details.

Thoughtfully built. Beautifully finished. Made to last.

Feature No. 2: The Breezeway Wall

The second feature from this stunning property is the breezeway wall, and this transformation was all about creating a beautiful, durable finish while giving the home a completely elevated look.

We began by removing the existing siding and preparing the wall with new plywood sheathing. From there, we installed Tyvek, RainGaurd mesh and galvanized metal lath, followed by a carefully applied scratch coat to create the proper foundation for the stone.

The entire wall was then finished in beautiful cultured stone, complemented by natural stone window sills that add a refined architectural detail and bring the whole feature together.

Every layer serves a purpose, but it’s the finishing details that make the difference.

Thoughtfully built. Beautifully finished. Made to last.

Stay tuned for Feature No. 3 from this incredible property. ✨

We had an absolute blast bringing these stone feature areas to life. 🤍

This project is from one incredible home, and we’ll be sharing the next two posts from the same property. Rather than overwhelming you with one post full of photos, we wanted to slow it down and showcase the beauty, detail, and craftsmanship of each individual feature.

First up: the chimney.

We began by carefully removing the top 15 rows of severely spalling brick and replacing them with cement block to create a solid, long lasting foundation.

From there, we installed galvanized metal lath over the remaining brick, applied a scratch coat, and finished the entire chimney with beautiful cultured stone.

To complete the look, we installed a natural stone chimney cap and custom natural stone shoulders , adding the architectural detail that truly elevates this feature.

The finished result is timeless, substantial, and beautifully suited to the character of this home.

Restoration meets luxury , with every detail built to last.

Stay tuned for the next two features from this property. ✨

Well, this is the first time I’ve ever repaired a shiner-laid brick wall!

This home was built in 1890, and the brick was originally laid in a shiner layout—meaning the bricks were laid on their faces rather than flat.

We removed the bottom eight courses across the entire length of the wall and rebuilt them using new brick, traditional lime mortar, and hundreds of brick ties to properly secure everything back into place.

Another challenging restoration project that required a little old school masonry knowledge and a lot of attention to detail. Bringing this 1890 home back to life, one brick at a time!

After just 12 short years, this cement block retaining wall had completely failed, developing a significant bow and lean that made it structurally unsafe.

Once we removed the top course of block, the cause of the failure became immediately clear, there was no concrete or reinforcing steel (rebar) in the block cells. Without the proper reinforcement, the wall simply wasn't built to withstand the pressure behind it.

We completely removed the failed wall and rebuilt it the right way using new block. Every block cell was fully reinforced with concrete and rebar, securely anchored into the footing for maximum strength and long term stability. To finish the job, we waterproofed the back of the wall to help protect it from moisture and extend its lifespan.

When it comes to retaining walls, what you can't see is often just as important as what you can. Building it right the first time makes all the difference.

One of the most rewarding parts of this job is restoring more than just masonry, it’s restoring people’s trust.

These homeowners hired another company to repair their porch and paid a $2,000 deposit. The crew showed up for only a few hours, chipped away some concrete, took a pic hammer to the entire porch to “look for hollow spots,” and then disappeared. They never came back.

We were happy to step in and make things right.

We teamed up with the amazing crew at GTA Epoxy Durham. Ron, the owner, and I have worked together on multiple projects, and we knew this would be another great collaboration.

We removed all of the remaining loose concrete, drilled in reinforcing anchors, then formed and poured new concrete using an acrylic bonding agent instead of water to create a stronger, longer-lasting repair.

After the concrete had fully cured, Ron ground the surface smooth and applied a beautiful epoxy finish, completely transforming the porch.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about delivering a quality finished product, it’s about standing behind our work. Doing what we say we’re going to do and leaving our customers with the confidence that they hired the right team. We’re proud to have given these homeowners a porch they can enjoy for years to come.
