Technology is most compelling when it helps us see more clearly, rather than merely asking to be seen.

These temporary structures of light allow missing or unfinished architecture to be experienced at full scale without pretending that the past can be reconstructed with complete certainty. They make absence visible — briefly, beautifully, and without permanently altering the original.

Not everything worthwhile must endure in material form. Sometimes the ephemeral can deepen our understanding of what remains.

Good architecture should not reach its peak on the day the photographer arrives.

What is interesting here is the ambition to create a home that can mature with its landscape and its occupants. Materials are allowed to age, craft is visible, and durability becomes part of the beauty rather than merely a technical requirement.

A house worth passing on is also a house someone will continue to care for. That may be one of architecture’s most honest forms of sustainability.

There is something wonderfully human in Kahn’s observation. Good architecture begins by paying attention, not forcing a material to become something it is not, but understanding what it already possesses and what it might become.

Perhaps that applies to more than bricks. The ordinary, when treated with care, can become extraordinary.

After 144 years, the Sagrada Família in Barcelona has finally reached its full height.

For us, this isn't simply a story about architecture. It's a story about civilization.

Generation after generation chose to finish someone else's vision instead of replacing it with their own. That kind of humility is increasingly rare.

We often celebrate those who begin great works. Perhaps we should also celebrate those who faithfully complete them.

The Sagrada Família reminds us that beauty is not always the result of one lifetime. Sometimes it is the work of many generations, each accepting the responsibility of carrying something forward.

We build not just for ourselves, but for those who will inherit what we leave behind.

We often judge new communities by the architecture of individual buildings. More enduring cities are usually remembered for something else: the quality of their streets, parks, public spaces, and the relationships they create between people and place. Designing the public realm first is a promising beginning. The challenge, as always, will be ensuring the buildings that follow possess the same level of care, proportion, and permanence.

Rooted in the team’s visionary “Growing Streets” concept, the design places streets and public spaces at the beginning of city-making to shape how the neighbourhood looks, as well as how it lives, grows and connects.

Some buildings are best understood not as objects in the landscape, but as participants in it. The Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library succeeds because it resists the temptation to dominate the Badlands, allowing the landscape to remain the primary monument. In many ways, this is architecture at its most disciplined, not drawing attention to itself, but deepening our understanding of place.

Some ideas endure because they are rooted in principles rather than fashion.

Projects that prioritize culture, public life, and human connection rarely lose their relevance. While materials, technologies, and architectural languages evolve, the need for places that foster belonging, learning, and civic life remains constant.

Perhaps the greatest measure of a design is not whether it feels contemporary today, but whether it continues to feel meaningful decades from now.

"Built to last" is about more than durability.

A building may endure structurally for a century, yet still fail if it never becomes meaningful to the people and communities it serves. Longevity is measured not only by the life of its materials, but by the value people continue to find in the place itself.

For us, sustainability is ultimately an act of stewardship. The buildings with the smallest environmental footprint are often those that communities care enough to preserve, adapt, and pass on.

The most sustainable building is not simply the one that uses the fewest resources, it is the one no one wants to tear down.
