Winter project for solar owners: pull your system's paperwork into one place. It takes a few minutes, and it helps when something needs a look.
️⃣ Your ESA certificate. After the Electrical Safety Authority inspects and passes the work, it issues a Certificate of Acceptance. ESA calls it an important document for insurance and resale. If you don't have it, ask your installer for a copy.
️⃣ Your equipment and warranties. Note the brand and model of your panels, inverter and any batteries, and keep the warranties together. Quality panels typically come with 20–25 year warranties.
️⃣ Your monitoring login. Output dips on short winter days and when snow covers the panels. A warning or error on your inverter is the sign to get it checked.
️⃣ Your utility agreement and bills. If you're on net metering, your bills show your credits. Hydro Ottawa's connection agreement for small systems also asks owners to keep the system maintained as the manufacturer outlines.
