Ottawa has officially experienced its wettest summer on record, with more than 510 mm of rain recorded from June 1 - August 12 alone! In addition to the weather-related delays, our crews also completed several urgent flood repairs throughout the area, which created a ripple effect across our schedule.

Despite these challenges, we’re still going strong and working hard to catch up! If you’re waiting to hear from us, please continue to be patient—our office will be in touch soon with an update.

It is not in your head. This is the wettest summer Ottawa has ever recorded.

Environment Canada logged 510.1 mm of rain at the Ottawa airport between June 1 and August 12.

The old record for a full June through August was 464 mm, set in 1972. We passed it with 19 days of the season still left.

August alone is at 104.8 mm against a monthly average of about 79 mm. Last night added another 21.9 mm and a 107 km/h wind gust, the strongest the city has seen all year. Canada Day topped out at 71 km/h.

Around 8,000 Hydro Ottawa customers woke up without power this morning, mostly in Knoxdale-Merivale, College and Bay, the same wards that took the worst of July 1. More than 8,000 were out in the Outaouais, most of them in Aylmer.
