A common misconception we see all the time? That dormer-style windows can simply be shingled on the outside.

While this may have been standard practice years ago, we now know it’s not the right approach. Shingles are designed for sloped surfaces, not vertical ones. Installing them on a vertical surface can lead to leaks over time, and most manufacturers won’t provide any warranty or protection in these cases.
