This tree was long overdue for removal. A base full of carpenter ants and significant decay meant the only safe option was removal with a lift or crane.

No crane or lift access for this storm-damaged Black Spruce. Situations like this take a few tricks in the toolbox to get the job done safely.
By carefully assessing the tree and working through the hazards, I was able to remove the top without putting myself, the property, or the cottage at risk. Once the weight was off, I was able to stand the tree back up and safely fell it away from the cottage.
I'm sure some people will watch this and say they would've done it differently. That's the beauty of tree work—there's often more than one way to get the job done. I'll be waiting to see your videos! 😉🌲💪
