Beautiful bathroom renovation for the funnest clients. We had a fun surprise in the mix for our favourite comedian 👻

They wanted to attempt to keep the shower tile the same due to costs the costs of demo and replacement and that was a challenge we were willing to work with! Along with keeping the shower as is, we had some beautiful vintage lights and a funky yellow tub to add more personality in the space. The vibe was rustic farmhouse and the main requirement was more functionality and to bring out who they were through the design.

Design decisions that just worked —
• Paint colours that worked with the rest of the house while also complimenting the tiled shower
• Wainscotting for more visual interest (again, while complimenting the shower)
• Increased the height of the vanity from the standard 34” to 37” - we thought it was crazy at first, but man is washing your face so much easier with the height of the sinks
• Storage was a huge must in this bathroom so the center tower is not only functional but really creates the his and hers space while hiding all the clutter
• Beautiful arched, recessed medicine cabinets for additional storage
• Tiled floors that make the shower look intentional and that yellow tub POP (with in floor heating of course)

Sometimes a simple change, leaves the largest impact 👊🏼

We say its a simple change - but there were a lot of decisions for this feature fireplace that ended up making it so special:
- Lowered the fireplace so the ambience is at the proper height and you’re not staring at yourself in the glass when seated at the couch, much cozier.
- With lowering the fireplace, the TV can then be lowered and is at a proper viewing height to get rid of those neck cramps from it being too high.
- Extended the width of the framing so everything is more proportionate and so that we could get a bigger impact with the tile on the edges of the TV.
- Tile is vertically stacked to draw the eye upwards and create the illusion of larger ceilings
- Recessed the TV and added a conduit for all HDMI plug ins to come out on the right side of the wall
- One small feature we always do with these fireplace and media walls is paint the recessed box black - it creates the illusion of a larger TV and gets rid of any shadows or distractions

A great impact always comes from all of the little decisions that are made before the project starts (and sometimes during), so that we can get the perfect outcome for our clients.

Designing your space to FLOW with the style of your home, your tastes and your lifestyle instead of what is trending is the real flex.

When this home was built in 2012 the kitchen was designed around what is trendy at the time, however it didn’t work with the overall design of the house (see pic 7 for the living room visible from kitchen). We not only designed the kitchen in 2024 so that it was cohesive with the existing home, but made the kitchen much more functional while keeping the footprint the same so that the tile did not need to be replaced.

Design details that made an impact —
- 2 cm porcelain counters with mitred edges and backsplash
- 3 cm waterfall quartz island - same veining as porcelain but inverted colour tones
- Textured wood veneer cabinets that extend to the ceiling for more impact
- Dark, durable and slightly metallic open shelving to compliment handle pulls
- Edge pulls for cabinets installed both horizontally and vertically
- Stunning walnut butcher block added to island
- Larger, upgraded stainless steel appliances
- So much more storage
- Roll outs and custom storage in each cabinet for better functionality

Overall leading to a calmer and more enjoyable experience in your kitchen.

Struggling with making that impact with your bookcases and decor? Read on for some tips to styling all those books of yours.

These clients of ours were avid readers and book collectors and wanted as much of their books on display as possible. While you may see some beautifully curated bookshelves with just a few books and some decor items, don’t be afraid to swing the pendulum the other way and stuff those shelves with your collection.

- Mix heights and shapes
- Layer and stack items for extra depth
- Group in odd numbers to keep things interesting
- Add in texture - wood, ceramics, greenery, vintage items etc.
- Flip the books - put some books in with the spine to the back of the bookcase to bring in added texture
- Remove the book sleeves - the hardcover is usually perfect on display without the sleeve
- Add in your own personal touch - add your own meaningful items - heirlooms, souvenirs, photos etc.
- Turn on some tunes, lay everything out, grab a coffee and just have fun with it!

Another kitchen refresh complete! This one goes to show you don’t need to change out everything in your home to have it feel brand new.

Clients were wanting to maybe paint the cabinets down the road, but we were convinced that we could give them the desired look they were after with just a few changes.

We found a beautiful quartz that was brighter and much more subtle with similar tones to the cabinetry, and replaced the backsplash with a unique textured subway tile.

With the low ceiling, the previous pendants closed off the kitchen so we opened it up by removing them and replacing with pot-lights to honour the open concept floor plan and to make the whole space feel more cohesive.

Still waiting on some millwork finishes for the dining room and some new furniture, so stay tuned to see what we did with the whole space!

Bathroom Reno sans tile demo!

Our client wanted to freshen up her bathrooms but the thought of re-tiling was simply too much. So we opted for new counters that would compliment the existing tile in both bathrooms, picked out some new mirrors, and did a fresh coat of paint on the vanities, walls and ceilings.

Lighter and brighter was the goal and this refresh turned out even better than expected!
