Fall sending season is in full swing at Skaha. Repeat visitors and first timers alike, here are a few gentle reminders to help protect access and help everyone enjoy the park:
1). Music: Leave the ghetto blasters, boom boxes and fancy Bluetooth speakers for the car and the after party. I’m sure you love that tune but not everyone appreciates it and the noise can create difficulty for climbers trying to communicate with their belayer.
2) Dogs: Keep your furry friends on a leash, dogs being in the park is a privilege and off leash dogs threaten that privilege…no matter how well behaved rover is!
3) B***y: Carabiners on an anchor are NOT b***y they are a community service, consider replacing worn ones as you come across them! Draws hanging are also NOT b***y but common practice and a sign someone is working that route.
4) Smoking: the fire situation in the Okanagan continues to be a huge concern, don’t be the reason for everyone to lose access to a precious resource. Be extremely prudent if you simply can’t do with out…
5) Be bear aware…they are around and it is a treat to see them…mom and cubs recently. Dusk and Dawn are common sighting times but they are around often, leave them be and pick up after your self to avoid attractants at the crag that put these animals at risk.
6) Parking: obey the signs…simple.
7) And….consider donating to the Skaha Park Watch Society to help keep the parking lot safe!!!!
Enjoy it out there and be safe!
