A Long-Overdue Update on Our Masonry Supply & Local Market Dynamics
We didn't want to make this post. We honestly preferred to handle our business behind the scenes and focus on serving our community. However, due to a local competitor who has recently decided to run our name through the mud, we feel it is time to set the record straight with absolute transparency.
We have worked incredibly hard to get where we are today. Our entire business is built on trust, honesty, and clear communication with our customers. When our integrity is questioned because of the actions of outside parties, we owe you the truth.
The Territorial Dispute
Recently, we discovered that a competitor dealer located in another town over 45 minutes away has taken issue with us. Following this, Permacon decided they suddenly "need to do more on their end" before allowing us to order stone or supply our customers. It appears they believe the Perth market belongs exclusively to a different customer base. Essentially, the message we received is that your local money should be spent in a different town, rather than supporting a business right here in your own community.
The Contradiction
What makes this situation incredibly frustrating is the mixed signals we received. Construction and dealership operations require precision, timing, and reliable supply chains. We did everything right on our end. In fact, we received an official approval for a $15,000 USD credit limit to order their brick.Despite having financial approval ready to go, the corporate narrative shifted completely.
What Happened Behind the Scenes
Initial Direction: We were explicitly advised and encouraged to order a stock volume of their brick lines for our dealership.
The Rep's Visit: Their representative came right down to our location to get things moving. I personally handed him a list of our local contractors, and he went out and spoke directly to all of them. Based on those meetings, all of those contractors left believing we would be fully able to supply them with Permacon products.
Months of Wasted Time: Instead of moving forward, we were left waiting through months of tedious back-and-forth communication, planning delays, and project stall-outs while trying to move the order forward.
An Abrupt Cancellation: After dragging their feet for months and building up everyone's expectations, they informed us late in the game that they would no longer proceed with supplying the order at all.
Commitments Must Mean Something
For homeowners and local contractors alike, reliability matters. Material commitments should mean something, especially when strict deadlines and construction schedules are on the line. These months of waiting could have easily been avoided with simple, upfront honesty about their production limits or corporate politics, rather than wasting our time and misleading our local contractor network.
Moving Forward Stronger
We want to reassure our loyal customers, builders, and DIYers that this roadblock will not stop us. We will continue to proudly supply high-quality products from Oaks Landscape Products and Brown's Concrete, and we are already actively looking into bringing on other premium suppliers in the near future to give you the best selection possible.Thank you to everyone who continues to stand by us and support local.
Thanks,Nick
