PSA: Now's the time to pull garlic mustard! Please take 10s out of your day, to pull any that you see. These babies are now flowering and soon to produce such an abundance of seeds. We found a wee garlic mustard forest on one of our sites - likely grown from just a few garlic mustard plants that spread their seeds here last year. Now's your chance to remove it in your yard or out in the community along trails and in parks.

It's a great time to have a look out for Dog Strangling Vine (DSV) on your property while there may still be some open spaces while we wait for all the perennial plants (and unwanteds) to emerge.
Check out this video for some tips on how to identify it now, as it is only just emerging from the ground in our area.

We are so very jazzed to see these spring bloomers thriving! These Prairie Smoke and Pasque flowers reside in a lovely garden that we rejuvenated over the past couple of years.
🐝Check out the wee visitor in the second pic! 🐝
Looking back at the 'before' photos (3rd pic) in contrast to what we see today is mind-blowing!
We love garden transformations and it's been especially beautiful to see the original plants from this garden emerge as they were given room to thrive.

Weedy Wednesday! Can you name these plants by the look of their roots??

Are you looking for ways to better support pollinators in your urban yard? Bee houses (often called bee hotels or nesting boxes) are great ways to ensure native solitary bees that are feeding in your garden have a place to nest. Stem nesting bees use hollow branches or tubes to lay their eggs, so may find it hard to find a nesting site in tidy urban areas. Our bee houses are great options for these bees and a great learning tool for those curious about the life cycle of native solitary bees.
This we're catching a glimpse of a busy bee on a hot morning in July. Yes, imagine the warmth!

Gardeners who run…do everything fast. Even snail mail.

Today’s workout: 5K run + 200 mailbox squats while dropping off postcards. Who needs a gym when you have neighbourhood streets and a stack of flyers?

We plant seeds, we plant ideas, and apparently…we plant postcards too. If you see someone slightly sweaty talking about mulch and perennials, don’t worry, it’s just your local cardio-powered gardeners making deliveries.

Rain or shine, we run on coffee, compost, and big dreams for beautiful gardens.

Warning: Opening your mailbox may cause sudden urges to:
• Plant flowers
• Remove your lawn
• Talk about pollinators
• Hire gardeners who clearly have too much energy
