I had the privilege of transforming this living space with a new fireplace/TV chase, cabinetry, and floating shelves. I partnered with a trusted tile setter and electrician but the rest I produced and installed. The 2 1/4” thick shelves and counters are made out of solid maple laminated together and built to stand the test of time. Journey along through the pictures to see the various stages from design, to the workimg of raw materials, to the finished product.

Here is a project I finished this spring. I was first introduced to the project over 2 years ago as a blank slate in a newly built house with an undeveloped basement. The goal was to create a welcoming yet functional kitchen space to serve as a rental suite for short term practicum students and medical professionals. In catching the vision I had to set aside my initial biases of the simplicity of a typical basement suite kitchen. It was challenging yet rewarding to see this through from the design phase through to the build and install, right down to the last custom accessory. I am fortunate to do what I do, and blessed to work with clients who entrust me with their valued spaces.

There are no limits when it comes to cabinet accessories and inserts. From garbage bin pullouts, to large utensil bin pullouts, to spice pullouts and spice drawer inserts, to built In cutlery trays. Anything is possible to make a space function better and look good doing it.

When most people think of oak they think of kitchen cabinets doors and furniture which had a long run of popularity from the 1980s into the early 2000s. That was typically flat sawn red oak with “golden oak” stain and very wavy grain full of “cathedrals”. In contrast, today I was clear coating some floating shelves I made out of rift cut white oak. Very elegant straight grain and timeless color tones. Anybody else like white oak?

I had the privilege of being entrusted with designing and building cabinets for a large walk-in closet adjoining a basement master suite. It is a uniquely shaped room with an angled back wall and several different ceiling heights and bulkheads. Beforehand it was a mix of different closet organizers with areas unreachable and unusable. There is no shortage of storage in this space and it includes everything from built in his and hers laundry hamper pullouts, to recessed lighting throughout, all encased in grain matched wood grain fronts. Above the make up desk will be a mirror and vanity light. Let me know if I can help you make your storage dreams come true!

I had the pleasure of partnering with Cupboards Express on this cabinet install. They designed things and supplied the product and I installed it. It was enjoyable installing cabinets in 10 different rooms in this house. Follow along in the video as I give you a quick tour starting in the basement bar to a bathroom - laundry room - bathroom - mud room - powder room - kitchen - master bathroom - laundry room - and finishing in a guest bathroom.

It’s drawer box build day! You can never have too many drawers (just like clamps if you are a wood worker). All my drawers are built out of solid birch with a clear finish on them. Unlike melamine drawer boxes with vulnerable edgetape, these stand the test of time and can take the abuse of a well used kitchen for years and years.
