📢 Bank of Canada Rate Announcement – October 28, 2026
The Bank of Canada has increased its key interest rate by 0.25%, bringing it to 2.50%. This is the first rate increase since July 2023. 🇨🇦
🏡 What does this mean for your mortgage?
🔹 Variable-rate mortgages: You may see an increase in your interest rate and borrowing costs.
🔹 Fixed-rate mortgages: Your current rate generally stays the same for the remainder of your term. However, fixed mortgage rates can change with the bond market.
🔹 Buying a home: It's important to review your budget and understand what you can comfortably afford.
🔹 Mortgage renewals: If your renewal is coming up, now is a good time to review your options and plan ahead.
The Bank has also indicated that further rate increases may be needed, but future decisions will depend on how the economy and inflation develop.
