I’m so glad we gave this little kitchen a second chance. She was tiny and looking a little tired, but we breathed new life into her. Just look at the transformation now-dressed up as a gorgeous and spacious indigo blue kitchen. Wow, she’s come a long ways! 🥰

We took a high-low approach to keep the budget in check, pairing beautifully paneled appliances and teal veined natural quartzite countertops with cost-effective backsplash tiles and durable wood-look vinyl flooring. It’s a smart way to create a luxurious feel in a home while being mindful of the budget. Our clients love their new space, and I’m sure there are plenty of exciting meals being made here.

Well we had some laundry goals to achieve!
We were challenged to make every inch count without making things feel cramped in this long and narrow sliver of a space.

We grouped the laundry, mudroom and crawl-space access into one work zone. There’s plenty of cabinetry to keep everyday messes concealed. Next to the door leading in from the garage is a handy built-in bench to take shoes off or plop groceries down.

A quiet colour palette keeps the room feeling clean and spacious.

And it never hurts to show some contrast. Sure, that striking black sink 🖤 is practical for a laundry/mudroom, but it also reveals a little personality, kind of like a little black dress!

I share many posts of my interior design projects, yet there’s a whole other side of my work that happens before we get to the finishes, and that’s designing the architecture and shaping a home from the ground up.

Here is a project where I’ve worked closely with the client through every stage, from architectural concepts and floor plan layouts, through exterior design and finishes, all the way into the interiors and details that will lend distinct personality to this home.

From design discussions and showroom meet ups, zoning and code requirements, permit sets to construction drawings and product finish schedules, I’ve been on a very special journey to bring my client’s dream sanctuary come to fruition.

And now, what a great feeling to see all those ideas on paper come alive. All those soaring spaces are a sight to behold in my designer’s eye!

It might not be easy to see the final vision when looking at a structure at this raw framing stage but I assure you, it’s going to be a very cool vision at that. 😉
Look for more updates as these walls fill up with life, laughter and all the moments that make a house truly a home.

The perfect “COUNTERbalance”⚖️

It was important for our client’s kitchen to find equilibrium between a modern, functional workspace and quiet, human moments. So we paired crisply lined white surfaces with the organic depth of warm wood and integrated lighting for a soft glow.
Now there’s a beautifully balanced, inviting pocket inside a high functioning kitchen. It’s a sweet spot for pulling up a stool to unwind and enjoy that slow morning coffee ☕️

I love contrast. 🖤

The counterbalance of a warm caramel leather sofa and bold black fireplace surround brings warmth and depth to this modern living room. Repeated touches of black in the artwork, armchairs and metals create visual rhythm, while soft off-white walls unify the palette.

I love how intriguing this photo turned out. Through the glass shower door you get a peek into the layers of materials and rich tones we selected for this primary ensuite.

I’m really pleased how the deep tile and warm metals came together. Everything’s almost ready for the homeowners to enjoy!
