Summer may be winding down, but there’s still plenty happening on PRD jobsites.

Our crews are making the most of the remaining construction season, keeping projects moving and tackling everything from breaking ground to the final details. As always, the focus is on doing the work safely, doing it well, and keeping our projects on track as we head toward winter.

We’re proud of what the PRD team has accomplished so far this year, and there’s still lots more to come.

A new school year is just around the corner, which means our roads, school zones and bus routes are about to get a whole lot busier.

As students head back to class, we’re reminding everyone to slow down, stay alert and give yourself a little extra time on the road. A few extra moments of caution can make a big difference.

We also know back-to-school season can be a busy one for families. Between new routines, schedules, childcare and everything else that comes with September, there’s a lot to juggle as everyone settles back in.

From all of us at PRD Construction, we wish students, teachers, school staff and families a safe and successful start to the new school year.

Another PRD project is complete!

PRD Construction recently wrapped up the renovation and expansion of Dr. Eugene Anekwe’s office, providing both the design and construction services for a new two-storey addition connected to the existing clinic.

The project included an expanded mezzanine with new offices, a kitchen and washrooms, along with a new staircase. A skylight was also incorporated into the new roof structure, bringing more natural light into the space.

The result is a larger, more functional clinic designed to make better use of the space while creating a welcoming environment for both staff and patients.

Thank you to everyone who had a hand in bringing this project together.

A great project deserves a great celebration!

On August 13, the PRD Construction team joined Stellat’en First Nation for the official ribbon cutting of their new Administration Building.

Chief, Council and community members came together for a ceremonial gathering and welcoming remarks before cutting the ribbon and officially opening the new space.

We’ve been proud to share the progress of this project along the way, and it was great to be back with the community to celebrate its completion.

Congratulations to Stellat’en First Nation on your new Administration Building, and thank you for having PRD there to be part of the day.

Hard hats are a standard part of the jobsite today, but their history goes back more than 100 years.

After serving in World War I, Edward W. Bullard returned home and saw an opportunity to adapt the protective helmets worn by soldiers for use in industrial workplaces. In 1919, his company developed the "Hard Boiled Hat," made from steamed canvas, glue and black paint.

By the 1930s, hard hats were becoming an important part of construction safety. They were famously required during construction of the Golden Gate Bridge, helping establish head protection as a standard on major jobsites.

We've come a long way since steamed canvas and glue. Today's hard hats are made from materials designed to protect workers from impact, pe*******on and, depending on the type, electrical hazards.

The materials may have changed, but the purpose hasn't: protecting the people doing the work.

A pretty impressive history for something we put on every day.

Hockey season is right around the corner, and PRD Construction is proud to once again support the Prince George Cougars Hockey Club for the 2026-2027 season.

The Cougars are a big part of our community, and there’s nothing quite like seeing Prince George come together at the CN Centre to cheer them on.

We’re looking forward to another season of great hockey, packed stands, and plenty of hometown pride.

Working in Northern BC means some summer days can be just as challenging as the work itself.

When temperatures climb, taking care of yourself is just as important as getting the job done. Stay hydrated throughout the day, take regular breaks in the shade when possible, and dress for the conditions. Light-coloured, breathable clothing, sun protection, and properly fitted PPE can all help reduce heat stress while keeping you protected on the job.

Keep an eye out for yourself and your crew. Dizziness, headaches, nausea, muscle cramps, excessive sweating, confusion, or unusual fatigue can all be signs of heat-related illness. If you or a coworker starts experiencing these symptoms, speak up and take action before they become more serious.

Looking out for one another is part of the job. At PRD Construction, safety isn't just about following procedures. It's about making sure everyone gets home safely at the end of every shift.

Stay hydrated. Stay alert. Stay safe.
