We are pleased to announce that AE McKay Builders Ltd has received our Business Excellence in crime prevention award!
A.E. McKay Builders LTD., is a well-known construction company in the Saint John area who have actively engaged in assisting and working with the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force on crime prevention projects and initiatives.
The company has been helping survivors of domestic violence repair broken doors and other property after domestic incidents and works to ensure that survivors feel safe in their homes. A.E. McKay Builders have installed lighting at survivor’s residence after a partner broke a door and security lighting, which allowed the survivor to be more confident in their home.
In addition to supporting survivors of violence, Andrew McKay understands the importance of work experience, especially for vulnerable youth. Andrew has personally hired youth who have been engaged in the justice system to work on his construction sites and supports youth in building their self-esteem and teaching them how to meaningfully be engaged in society. Andrew has gone above and beyond to support local youth who have become justice-involved and has even arranged to provide transportation to work for a youth who was not able to find their own.
Despite all the effort that Andrew and Cathy put into supporting their community from providing complimentary building materials and labour to supporting youth at risk, they never seek acknowledgement of their efforts. A.E. McKay Builders is an excellent example of how businesses can become involved in making their community a safer place. Andrew and Cathy were nominated by Cpl. Eugene Belliveau in acknowledgement of their extraordinary efforts to support their community.

A.E. McKay Builders LTD. est une entreprise en construction bien connue dans la région de Saint John qui a activement travaillé et collaboré avec le Service de police régional de Kennebecasis à des projets et des initiatives visant à prévenir la criminalité.
L’entreprise a souvent aidé des survivants de violence conjugale en réparant des portes fracassées et d’autres bris après des incidents et elle veille à ce que les survivants se sentent en sécurité dans leur maison. A.E. McKay Builders a installé de l’éclairage dans la résidence d’un survivant après qu’un partenaire de vie ait brisé la porte et l’éclairage de sécurité. Ce faisant, le survivant s’est senti plus en confiance dans sa maison.
En plus de soutenir les survivants d’actes violents, Andrew McKay comprend à quel point l’expérience professionnelle est importante, surtout pour les jeunes vulnérables. Personnellement, Andrew a embauché sur des chantiers de construction des jeunes qui avaient eu des démêlées avec le système judiciaire, et il les aide à améliorer leur estime de soi et leur enseigne comment jouer un rôle significatif dans la société. Andrew a fait des pieds et des mains pour soutenir des jeunes de la région qui étaient aux prises avec la justice et il a même trouvé un transport pour l’un d’eux qui était sans solution.
Malgré tous les efforts déployés par Andrew et Cathy pour soutenir leur collectivité et les jeunes à risque en donnant des matériaux de construction et de la main-d’œuvre, ils n’ont jamais recherché la reconnaissance. A.E. McKay Builders est un excellent exemple du rôle des entreprises pour rendre les collectivités plus sûres. Andrew et Cathy ont été reconnus par le caporal Eugene Belliveau pour leurs efforts extraordinaires en soutien à leur collectivité.
