Trail Report Thursday June 4 Cypress Hills PP.

Greetings from cool, wet, muddy, windy Elkwater! The park has received close to 90mm of rain since this system started on Sunday evening and we're anxious to see the sun again. It's going to take some time for the trails to dry out. We've seen other places use 1hr for every 1mm of rain as a starting point so keep that in mind when you try to ride next. Rooty, cobbly trails will be your best bet to try to ride first, if you're leaving ruts turn back! Trees are likely down all over the trails (hello wind!) and any found will be cleared next week.

Before the monsoon the trail crew was out on Tragically Steep building a new drop/catch berm feature (photo 2). There is a raked in ride around on the riders left side of the drop!

Canadiana work continues! Trail crew is taking advantage of the recent rains and will be working on Canadiana all through the weekend (the end is in sight!).

Happy trails!

Trail Report Thursday May 28 Cypress Hills PP

It's game on for riding in the park right now! Trails are in great shape headed into the weekend. Some notable highlights from the week:

Last Grizzly, Ruttentuke and parts of Ranger were raked and are riding better than ever!

Work continues on the Canadiana refresh, the crew is just past halfway down the trail. They'll be out there for the next couple of days so say hi!

More trees were cleared from more trails (it's the theme of the year πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ). Let us know if you find any and we'll take care of them.

Get out there and enjoy the trails before next weeks monsoon!!

Trail Report Thurs May 21 Cypress Hills PP.

It's been a soggy and cool week in the park. Trails are currently wet and riders are leaving deep ruts in the clay. Please give the park until the weekend to dry!

With all the new moisture trail crew has been focused on the refresh of Canadiana. The top 1/3 of the trail is almost complete and they hope to be off the trail for the weekend so you can get out there and ride 😁.

Round 3 of tree clearing the park trails continues. We plan on clearing all the remaining trees that have reported to us before the weekend.

Enjoy the sunshine this weekend 😎!

Trail Report Thurs May 14 for Cypress Hills Provincial Park.

Well it was a lovely week in the park but now it's time for the May long weekend, which means we've had over 20mm of rain and 80km/hr winds in the past 24hrs πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ.

This week the trail crew finished tree clearing all of the park trails but I'm sure with the winds we're currently having more trees are down on the trails. Please let us or the Elkwater visitor center know where they are when you find them!

They'll be intermittent closures of Canadiana over the following weeks as we slowly work our way down the trail giving it a refresh.

We'll keep you posted how fast the trails are drying out once the rains pass!

Have a great week!

Trail Report: Thurs May 7 Cypress Hills PP. It's been a hectic few weeks of tree clearing out here in the park!

The good:
βœ”οΈ All trails in the park EXCEPT those listed below have been tree cleared and are good to go for hiking and biking 😁.

The sad:
There's still a lot of trees on the trails out there! The trails below would be an adventure on a bike right now:
🌲Flatten the Curve, Rodeo, Spruce

❌ All ski hill trails remain closed!

Have a great weekend!

Guess who's back? Your favorite Cypress Hills Provincial Park trail crew! The 40cm of snow the park received last weekend is still melting, as a result all the park trails are a mix of mud, puddles and snowβ˜ƒοΈ. Please hold off riding for another week!

In other news, the Medicine Hat trails are in great shape!

Have a great weekend! 🚡

Happy Friday! For those wondering what the Elkwater trail conditions are like the answer is a mix of snow, ice and mud. It was a very windy winter so expect to see a lot of debris on the trails. Some tree clearing has occurred but the full-time trail crew doesn't start until the end of April.

Happy long weekend from rainy Elkwater! Yes it is raining again in the park, we received 15+mm of rain overnight and the heavy rain is supposed to continue all morning and top 50 mm by the time the system passes this afternoon πŸ™„.
This week we worked on many small projects around the park. We added a berm to the Fatten firebreak drops, levelled the Beaver loop boardwalk, tree cleared Rodeo, replaced deckboards on Spruce and benched a small section of Spruce as well.
Our time in the park is coming to an end so this will be our last Friday update! Thank you all for your kind words and feedback on our trails this summer, we've had a blast!
Grayden is continuing his heavy-duty mechanic apprenticeship, Jaxon is headed to his final year of high school, and Kingsley and Christine are headed....somewhere πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ. But don't worry, we'll be back next summer (and we're already planning our major trail tuneups πŸ˜‰).
Have a great week!
