Laura Gillanders Richmond City Councillor This means housing for all, community safety, and support for mental health and addictions.

Hard-working, compassionate and sensible, Laura Gillanders is an advocate whose priority is maintaining and promoting healthy, thriving communities. She believes in protecting natural systems for future generations and creating sound fiscal policy that enables strong social and economic benefits throughout Richmond. Laura is known for her highly inclusive problem-solving abilities and collaborative decision making and is currently serving as the chairperson of the City of Richmond Food Security and Agricultural Advisory Committee. In 2017 Laura established herself as a powerful voice for saving Richmond farmland as spokesperson for Richmond FarmWatch, a grassroots group seeking to stop the proliferation of non-farming mega mansions on protected farmland. Gillanders and others campaigned tirelessly and successfully, resulting in house size limits on farmland in Richmond and throughout B.C. Laura’s Richmond roots run deep, as her immigrant grandparents first farmed in Richmond in 1953, and her mother was a long-time Richmond elementary school teacher. A small business owner, CFO of a Richmond-based construction company, and an urban farmer who balances the demands of motherhood and work, Laura has championed other important community initiatives including defending schools slated for closure (2016). Her well-researched presentations regarding seismic safety and right-sized schools, along with the work of many other parents and advocates, led to victory. Laura lives and works in Richmond with her husband and children.

Henry Yao was an excellent MLA for Richmond. He hasn't been part of the government the last two years and deserves to get back in and do great things again for Richmond. He's not in my riding but if he was, I would vote for him.

Congratulations to Mayor-elect Rob Howard on an impressive victory. I'm also grateful to be re-elected along with the other incumbents Carol Day, Michael Wolfe and Andy Hobbs - you are all outstanding leaders in this community. Congratulations to Kenny Chiu, I know you'll continue the great work in Richmond that you've done in your other roles and I look forward to working with you. Advance Richmond taking the other three seats on council is very impressive, I saw Kevin out there knocking on doors since last spring in a very organized campaign that was hard to compete with.

I'm ready to work for Richmond. I heard from a lot of you on what can be improved in some of our systems, permitting times, park improvements and future priorities. My door is open anytime.

This is the full pan video pan of Brighouse Park when I filmed two nights ago. A fellow candidate suggests that I'm trying to hide and lie so he posts an attack video as that's what he and others do. Our parks are shared by vulnerable residents as well as families and athletes. I'm not sure where this candidate would like the unhoused people to go, he protests against housing and doesn't seem to understand that treatment, recovery and detox are a responsibility of the Province and VCH. Some of the unhoused people that use the park are in their 70's and 80's are waiting for the Province to find them homes.

Again I'm grateful for all of the hard work of the sports associations, staff at the drop-in centre and our outreach teams for continuing to look after everyone and find solutions so that everyone can use our parks.

Here at Brighouse Park we've had to work at balancing the needs of all park users. There's still work to do and we are moving in the right direction. On October 17 vote for the RITE candidates.

Truly affordable housing is not the responsibility of developers, it requires capital and operating funding from senior levels of government and city owned or other public land. I've made motions to help move us in the right direction, such as exploring a municipal housing authority. Please vote on October 17.

Nothing like a little family support! Thanks everyone for the honks and waves. See you this afternoon and tomorrow, getting down to the wire! VOTE October 17!

I've been on council for four years and had some effective motions that others supported to move us in the right direction. I listen to business leaders, other councillors and the facts while working collaboratively. I haven't done everything perfectly but I'm willing to listen and grow even more.

This Saturday October 17 I need your vote, I am not taking my incumbency for granted and you shouldn't either, I won't get in without your votes. Thank you. .

All RITE candidates received another endorsement. This is from the Richmond Firefighters Local 1286.

Another endorsement, thanks to the Richmond Firefighters 🚒
Partly do to the fact I've attended 100% of the Community Safety Committee meetings over my 8 years, eventhough Mayor Brodie wouldn't appoint me to the committee, I came prepared with questions, often more than many of the actual members. Just doing my job to the high standard we deserve 🙌
