Here's something most people don't realise about lava rocks, the size you choose affects how your fire pit actually looks.

Too small (under ½") and the rocks can fall into the burner ports, blocking airflow and reducing your flame. The sweet spot for most residential fire pits is 1–2" diameter rocks. They offer enough coverage, enough airflow, and they look great doing it.
