🐀 Rodent Damage Can Turn Into a Serious Electrical Problem

This attic wiring is a perfect example of why electrical issues aren’t always easy to find.

We were called to troubleshoot a circuit that had shorted out. Finding the problem took time, testing, and methodical troubleshooting before we eventually traced the issue back to extensive rodent damage in the attic.

Rodents had chewed through multiple sections of the electrical wiring, creating damaged conductors and ultimately causing the circuit to short circuit. What initially appeared to be a single circuit problem turned out to be a much larger issue.

Sometimes you don’t need a new panel, you just need the right repair.

Here’s a great example. This electrical panel was about 30 years old, and several of the breakers had become faulty. Instead of replacing the entire panel unnecessarily, I replaced the defective breakers with new ones.

The good news? The panel internals and existing wiring were still in good condition, so a full panel replacement wasn’t needed.

The result: a cleaner, safer, and more reliable electrical panel without replacing equipment that didn’t need to be replaced.
