When a washing machine or oven breaks down, we immediately try to solve the problem, but what about a broken hood? π§
After all, you can always open a window and solve the problem. But this is not always the right solution.
Cooking releases irritants and even chemicals that produce carcinogens. Harmful fumes can linger in the air, and open windows don't always allow air to circulate properly.
A cooker hood is very important! It promotes better air circulation, reduces smoke and vapour, and helps prevent stagnant odours in the apartment.
In this post, we've compiled our top 5 tips for caring for your cooker hood. Here we go.π
π₯ Clean filters regularly. All the gases and smoke accumulate nasty substances and even grease on the filter and sometimes on the walls around the stove. You can always clean the filter in the dishwasher or rinse it yourself under hot water. But if you use charcoal filters, it's best to replace them with new ones within 1-2 months. Our service plans include range hood diagnosis and repair.
π₯ Hood body cleaning. Taking care of the range hood body will prevent marks and stains from appearing. If you donβt do it, the marks will be even harder to clean. Start by turning off the hood and stove. Before cleaning the hood, the stove should cool down completely. Wipe the housing in the same direction as the fibres, using a soft microfiber towel and a household cleaner. But be careful to avoid contact with buttons, light bulbs or electrical parts of the appliance.
π₯ Clean the ventilation hole. This action should be performed regularly. Grease can accumulate in the vent, which impairs its performance and, in the worst case, can cause a fire. If grease accumulates in this part of the vent, it is important to contact a cleaning professional as soon as possible so that it can be properly cleaned.
π₯ Choose the right power for cooking. If you are only cooking something on the burner, the lowest speed of the hood will be enough to handle the steam. However, if you are frying heavily, then using the maximum speed will ensure that all the grease and smoke are effectively removed. It seems obvious, but using full power will wear out not only the filter but also the motor.
π₯ Check your motor at least every 2 months. The motor and the bearings in it can stop working properly because of exposure to grease and moisture. Go back to tip 1 to get your motor running properly.
