> Refreshed our first Strawberry Bed
> Watered and temp planted Raspberries until they find their forever home on the property
> Cardboarded/Covered an area of the property to try and kill down some weeds/unwanted plants.

Did you know what is a great treat on those nicer days (I know, its still winter, but we can start to hope right)? Iced Tea. Its a simple recipe:

1. Find some jars that will act as your containers for your ice tea. I found the larger glass jars worked wonderful here. You will be putting hot liquid in it, so just keep that in mind.
2. Boil water, enough that it'd fit about have of whatever the size of your container is.
3. Pick your flavor of tea, in the example below we used Peach and Berry. Roughly 2 bags per 500ML; If you like it stronger, you can add more or leave it steep longer.
4. Add your tea bags to your containers and your hot water (about halfway) and leave it steep for about 5-10 minutes (once again, longer will cause stronger flavor).
5. After its done steeping, add in any sugar (optional) and top it up with Cold Water.
6. Stick it in the fridge and in a bit, you'll have some delicious Iced Tea.

Hope everyone has a great Family Day, Islander Day, Heritage Day or Louie Riel Day, wherever you are in Canada.

Know what is a great past time to do with family? Board Games! I know we don't talk about it often here at the Homestead, however having a few good board games helps pass the time and brings the family and friends together. Our minions favourites are Candyland and Unstable Unicorns, however Mom and Dad enjoy Cribbage. :)

Have a great day and next week, stay tuned for our video on us determining our seed selections and layout for Spring.

What is everyone up to this weekend? As it starts to get further into February did you know its a great time to start some of your plants.

Leading into next week, the following plants are good to start indoors:
* Bell Peppers
* Celery
* Jalapeno Peppers
* Oregano, Rosemary & Thyme

Additionally, if you are starting onions from seed, now is also a great time to start!

As mentioned in our previous post, we were making Meat Pies and they turned out delicious!

I've long since lost the recipe that my grandmothers would have used to make these, but below is the ingredients list and the link that we followed. Even though it didn't taste exactly the same, it still brought me back to when I was a little kid watching my grandmothers and family members prepare these. They were always a staple in the household at Christmas time.

Ingredients:
3 Lbs Beef
3 Lbs Pork
3 Medium Onions
3 Tbsp of Summer Savoury
6 Lbs of Potatoes
Pie Bottoms & Crusts

Note: This will make about 8 pies.

Instructions that we followed:

If anyone has any meat pie recipes that they would like to share, please post below and I'll give that variant a try next time we make another batch.

Hello Everyone,

First off quick apology for lack of communication and/or posting for a bit as most of you can respect, life sometimes gets in the way and its been a very busy Winter of 2022.

With that said, we have recorded a new video today and would like to get feedback on the new format as we have decided to move away from voice over to more vlog based.

You can checkout our new video on Youtube:

Lest we forget

Today on the homestead, we are baking some bread from last week's recipe. Turned out so well that it didn't even last until the following week.

What is everyone up to today? Will you be going to your local Remembrance Day Ceremonials or doing something unique?

With our small ones, we will wait until they a tad bit older and understand. We have told stories of our family members that have served in the past and currently and the importance of Remembering.
