I don't often get the chance to do timber frame work but love the opportunity when it does come around. These were 10x10 and 5x10 timbers combined with a more traditional roof system. It turned out amazing. Framing is complete and ready for a tin roof.

This is a fun little job that we completed this week.

A saskatoon business owner approached me to build an 18'x40' wall in his shop. He needed it because the open shop space is partially warehouse partially work area that has a wash bay. After meeting on site and discussing his needs to reduce dust and water over spray I was able to present a much more cost effective solution.

This is a pvc wash bay curtain. It was a fraction of the cost of a wood framed wall and as an added bonus they didn't need to add any more lighting because of the clear section and reflective nature of the white pvc.

When building decks I like to have my screws in a nice straight visually pleasing line so I use my level as a guide to set my screws. It might seem like an extra step but honestly I find it saves me time as well having a fixed guide vs eye balling or marking lines that need to removed later.

I have not posted in a long time. Thought I would share this picture.

I framed this basement development earlier in the week. I have 2 nail guns out. I do this because of the treated bottom plates. Anytime you use treated lumber your fasteners must be galvanized or coated. Galvanized nails are very expensive compared to regular nails. In order to keep costs down for the customer I only use galvanized nails in the treated plates.

After spending the day scrapping, chipping and sweeping ice off of this floor just to mark interior lines we decided that maybe we should cover it up for the weekend so we don't have to start over on Monday

Just a few of the things we have been up to this summer.

Building garages, shops, homes and trying to find time to rebuild my mom's cabin deck.

Ps building a deck close to the ground out of untreated lumber is not a good plan.

We took our show on the road this weekend. Added two bedrooms to this one room cabin on Besnard lake.

What an adventure. The cabin is only accessible by boat. The owner was awesome and had all the materials hauled in before we got there.

The cool part about this job is that the owner is going to cut down and mill all his own wood siding. Big undertaking but it will be amazing when finished.

We did find time for some excellent fishing as well

Today two of us nailed together 100' of 18' tall walls with blocking rows every 4'

Just shy of 8000 nails. Im just a bit tired.
