When you look back over the past six months ~ what a wild ride ~ look at what you have created...relearning algebra to teach your kids at home, learning to bake sourdough bread, landscape your yard, reconfigured your entire business, mastered the ins and outs of serving customers virtually or contactless, created community and connectedness without physical presence, and so much more.

BRAVO! You did it, those small steps created a new reality for you and others!

Creating buy-in for a new idea.

I'm working with a few clients who are frustrated with trying to get people on board with a new idea. It take a lot of time for people to transition from the old way to the new way and there can be a lot of complaining.

This is a great article on how to get your team's culture focused on positivity but also gives them a focused space to share their concerns or as the author calls it the "Whining List" - where you outline all that is a problem and get it on the table that eventually leads to self-generating solutions and solving the problems.

What can we learn from tech companies and their creative brainstorming methods?

There are novel ways to invigorate your imagination and mindful ways to tackle routine problems. I'm particularly interested in the Hack Week concept. It suggests setting up a creative time to collectively work together on a problem. The goal is to generate new perspectives and ideas and not necessarily getting a perfect outcome.

Team learning is worth the time invested when the proper structure is in place to support it. Has anyone tried these types of methods before? Did you have success? What would you do differently next time?
