Sir Fix a Lot

Sir Fix a Lot Need a professional and experienced handyman to help with the "honey do" repairs around the house? Sir Fix a Lot is your man. Contact him for an estimate. Hi.

My name is Chad (a.k.a. Sir Fix-A-Lot). Here's a little bit about me. I'm a 35 year old guy who was born in Yorkton and raised in Saskatoon. I've done quite a lot in terms of work and had acquired a number of skills that I've put to use over the years. I was a carpenter and cabinet maker, an apprenticed electrician, a stone mason for three years, and have worked on small to medium to almost large

home repairs and renovations ever since I was 8 years old (thanks Dad). I also worked in EMS for 7 years! I decided to go back to school in 2010 to get my Geo-Physics Degree. Phew! I was able to complete the program and obtain my degree in June 2014. When I graduated, the mining (oil) industry went on a slump. Only one of my classmates that graduated with me was able to get a job. Most went back to school to get their Masters. I decided to ride the mining slump by working as a handyman around Saskatoon. I already had the skills and experience and I wanted to offer this service to others. Well, it's been 2 years since I graduated Geo-Physics. There are still no jobs in sight. Meanwhile being a handyman has allowed me to stay in Saskatoon and help others fix their homes. My dream is to design and build tube amps someday. If you have an amp in need of repair, I can also help fix it. Thanks for visiting this page.

Well, it's been officially a little over a year since I started this page. I had to go into sabbatical mode, per se at the end of August last year since I embarked on a three year Instrumentation program in Moose Jaw. *thanks to the geo-physicists job market* I decided to add an extra feather in my hat.

This summer has been busy as I took on a fairly large project. It should be completed well before I return to Moose Jaw. I hope everyone is having a safe and enjoyable summer.

As for me, I can't complain. The odd splinter and nail scrape just comes with the territory. Cheers!

Resting up today and enjoying my time. Happy Canada Day, Saskatoon!

How did you spend Father's Day? Mine was spent watching the latest Star Wars movie and battling endermen, zombies, skeletons and witches on minecraft, all while munching on homemade chili (à la me) and popcorn - with my two favourite girls.

I've had a few people ask me for a quote on a project that they tell me over the phone. It's difficult to state a quote based on the type of project for the following common sense reasons.

1. I haven't seen the area where the project will be done. There's logistics involved. Logistics often dictates types of materials best used and complexity or simplicity of the tasks involved to stage and complete the project - well.

2. Issues might be encountered that would need additional time and money to solve.
3. I charge by the hour. The above factors would affect how many hours it would take to actually complete a project.

This article gives a good breakdown on the costs for hiring a handyman. It also has suggestions on "obtaining quotes", if you're really set on getting a quote. I'm comfortable with providing *rough* estimates.

FYI: My hourly rate is less than the mentioned prices in the article. :)

Hiring a handyman is a great way to complete home projects, but how much does it cost to hire a handyman? Do handymen have hourly price rates for services?

Just got off a call from a 411.ca sales dude. Looks like I'll be listed on their online site for Saskatoon. This is getting serious.

Website Update: Obtaining the .ca rendered issues from the service provider end. It's all resolved now but my *cough cough* webmaster was not a happy camper this morning. I heard her banging away at her laptop and cussing under her breath.

It turned out, she was chatting with tech support. All I know is, I got home and she was all excited. Apparently, she was able to get another domain name (the one she initially suggested but I poo-pooed it. What do I know).

Moi: Do I do caulking!

In summary:
Yeah. I can caulk.

*Can't believe I just said that.*
